Thank you for not hiring the one man who continued our continuinty in Gregg Williams. Thank you for turning a memorable season into a firestorm aftermath. I have been so angry at you for what you have done to this organization. Class act reporting lies about Gregg Williams too, as if he would bad mouth Joe Gibbs, the man who endorsed him and he wanted to see succeed him. I sincerely hope these are all rumors for your sake. This is dispicable, and a complete deviated lie from what you told us at Gibbs resignation press conference saying that you were happy with the way that things were going and that you wanted to continue the consistency with the personal, coaches and scouts. You will not be trusted again, so you might as well relinguish your ownership rights to the team as we feel betrayed and lied to constantly by you and your minnions. Pathetic, simply pathetic that you would choose this route, as if you would want to hurt the players, coaches and fans. Congrats, you truly stink!!!!!
Snyder firing Cerrato would be like Batman firing Robin -- it's not going to happen.

I wonder how Sean Taylor's father feels about his son being a "forever Redskins" now. Snyder is taking every bit of class Joe Gibbs put back into this team and is stomping all over it..... Makes me want to vomit.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But what do we do when it's shattered?

it seems like an awful lot of people are getting all worked up over nothing. there might be a reason why Williams hasn't been named head coach yet...

That's bad business and totally wrong).
Yeah I think that's something to take note of. Honestly, at this point I'm really not sure what to believe.

Re: ESPN's Mortenson: Williams No Longer a Candidate

(Rock Your Face) Nice post. I grew up in the 80's watching Gibbs1 and always wondering why the games had to be so close. Yes there were occassional blow outs. If I'm not mistaken your looking at one of our SB years. Look at all the other years and see how close they were. Gibbs1 was a gentleman. The unwritten rule of the coaching rule was not to embarrass the other coach. When Gibbs got ahead he simply would run the ball to run out the clock. Only in the SB did he seem to blow out the other teams. Heck he was known for his half time adjustments. That tells you right there how piss pour we would play the first half of most games and pull out a win.

Also keep in mind during Gibbs1 there was no such thing as a CAP. I know he managed it well this time around but there is more to it I belive. If Gibbs1 wanted a player bad enough Mr. Cook would out spend everyone for the player. We always seemed to have the biggest OL (slow however) for blocking. You can't simply purchase all the players you need or want. The best teams are building through the draft. Saving money. I would love to see us go this route but it will take years with the CAP hits we will take.

I also enjoyed the post about FAMILY. Your right they were a family back in Gibbs1. Teams could spend all the money they wanted to keep the players on the team. Also back then there seemed to be more of what was called team spirit. When the player came out of college he would usually stick with one team. The rivalries were strong. Since then (maybe the cap is partially to blame) players have jumped ship sometimes to the rival teams which to me seems to have weakened the family feeling. Do we really need the cap anymore? some say yes some say no. It was put in place to help out the less lucrative teams ie; New Orleans, LA Rams(back then), New England(back then) and several other teams. Usually it was because the owner was not putting the money back into the team but his pocket. Some teams did have attendence problems. I say if there is a large market but little support then allow the owner to move his team. Screw the city/fans. Football is all about marketing. Owners need the money to pay the high priced players. Back then there was large differences between a lot of teams now the league is much closer. Owners have figured out how to squeeze the money out of the fans through all the team merchandise and through the media having them pay a lot to show the game. Not to mention food. lol.

Gibbs is the best HC in my opinion and no one else will compare. I have enjoyed what he brought us both times. I dispise the WC offense but this goes back to the cold war and Gibbs offense vs the WC. lol. I think it was all Reagans fault for bringing down the wall. lol just kidding. I guess if it means to have a team blow out other teams like the patriots do and the Colts have been doing then I'll overlook the WC. I just hope DS has not tarnished the Skins like Al Davis has with the Raiders.

Exactly. I mean, if the Danny axed him, who would he play racquetball with?

I have friends that are big Skins haters, and it's hard to defend against them calling us a joke right now (as far FO is concerned anyway).

Thank you, and all this speculation is really unnecessary. How about let the process unfold and form your opinions once the facts are straight. Right now the only thing we know is Zorn is the new Offensive Coordinator and a head coach hasn't been hired yet. That's it. All this talk about tearing down what Gibbs built, starting from scratch because GW might not be the head coach is nonsense.

Matty:

Just as people like to talk about players being "true Redskins", the creation of "smear campaigns" is part of "the Redskins' way". They did this to ease Dave Butz out; they did this when Brian Mitchell looked to sign elsewhere; they've let it be known that Bobby Mitchell wasn't sufficiently reliable in his judgment to move up in the FO. Any time someone other than a scrub player is on his way out, the Skins organization leaks "bad stuff" about them and the Washington press laps it up.

There's no way Gregg Williams would "dis" Joe Gibbs. Williams is a football coach and Joe Gibbs is a Hall of Fame football coach. Williams would have to be dumber than box of hammers to be disrespectful to Joe Gibbs as part of his interviewing strategy. I may not think Gregg Williams is the best hire for the Redskins as HC, but he isn't a stupid and self-destructive man.

Now, he might not have been sufficiently deferential to the huge contributions that Vinnie C. has made to the squad over the last decade in that interview to pass the test. [/sarcasm] Even there, I doubt he told Snyder that Vinnie was a pimple on the ass of the universe - - because that would not be a good selling point in the interview.

Until I read the assertion that Gregg Williams had bad-mouthed Joe Gibbs in an interview, I thought he was still in the running for the job as the "fall-back candidate". Not now... He's just gonna play out the string and get fired and collect his $2.5-3M for next year from Danny Boy.

Re: ESPN's Mortenson: Williams No Longer a Candidate

Yea people are getting worked up over nothing. The new HC and his coordinators may even keep all the staff Gibbs brought. However bringing in a coordinator who has been in the WC offense most of his coaching career simply smells of getting rid of Gibbs style of offense and bringing in a WC style does speak volumes of getting rid of half of what Gibbs has done. Do you think we will keep all the Asst. coach's who are associated with Gibbs style and not WC?

We might keep GW. Maybe there was some major behind the scene's shinanagins. If so why all the talk about Fassell unless he was to be a coordinator to get his career back on track. Wouldn't it have been a lot simpler to just tell the public GW is the HC and then look for the coordinator's? All this annimosity for the same end result is crazy. No there is more to it. DS is looking for whole sale changes across the board. He sees how the succesful teams are running the WC offense and the successful defenses are running the Ryan system. Except the Raiders. lol. I really don't mind if we are going the way of the Patriots. Get younger coaches and start building through the draft. Heck it will probubly save DS money. Maybe lower the cost of the tickets a little. No maybe not. DS is money hungry.lol.

I dont think Gregg Williams would disrespect Joe Gibbs though. Gregg Williams has backed Joe Gibbs for the last 4 years every time no matter what. Gregg Williams also stayed and coached the defense instead of taking a head coaching job elsewhere over the last couple of years.
What "great momentum" were we going to sustain anyway? Can you honestly tell me that an 8 month offseason is NOT a momentum killer? Really?

Teams's start clean every year. Every team starts clean every year. This year will be no different from the last 4.

Geez.

If Snyder really did create a smear campaign against Williams, why would he do such a thing? To try to get the players and fan base around his new HC hire? It just doesn't make sense.

Changing the thread title.
I would not be the least bit surprised if Danny, Vinny, or one of their representatives spread false rumors that Williams bashed Gibbs in the interviews. Snyder and Cerrato are supposedly well aware that the fans have reacted strongly to rumors that Williams will not become the new head coach and that Fassel will. The only people at the interviews were, presumably, Synder, Cerrato and Williams, Who else would've leaked such (false) info? Certainly not Williams.

Re: ESPN's Mortenson: Williams No Longer a Candidate

I guess we can officially say goodbye to Gregg Williams. He's no longer part of the organization. This really sucks.

Quote:
Gregg Williams Is Gone

Williams, assistant head coach - defense, had a meeting with owner Dan Snyder this morning acccording to his agent Marv Demoff, and is no longer a part of the organization. The sides mutual aggreed that he was no longer a candidate, Demoff said, and will move on.

The meeting was pleasant and productive, Demoff said, and Williams intended to withdraw from their coaching search Tuesday. At the urging of Joe Gibs he stayed in the process. He reached out to Gibsb again Thursday and Friday and was asked to stay in, Demoff said. So he did.

In today's meeting Williams asked Snyder abouyt media reports that he had disrecpetd Joe Gibbs. "Both Sndyer and Ceerato agreed that that had never occured and those reports were totally false," Demoff said. "They wished each othger well int he future and the sides parted."
