Jamal has a few more good years left in him and I thought he should've got comeback player of the year. Plus he's one of my keepers in FF!

I take a lot of that back, I thought that he was over 30 or much closer to 30. He is only 28. Anyhow, I guess my main point is that last year the browns gave up there 1st pick this year to get Quinn, when they should have gave up there 1st pick this year for Peterson...

With all these receivers going, I bet we'd have to get in a bidding war with the likes of Tampa Bay, Tennessee or Buffalo for D.J. Hackett now?

If he really wanted to stay in New England, he would have signed already. I doubt that NE would pay up for him, since they have never paid up for any of their players, not even Tom Brady (who has taken the hometown discount and screwed everyone on that team), Adam Vinieteri (the reason they actually won all of those Superbowl), Deion Branch (on of the SB MVPs) and now Asante Samuel. Plus, if NE really wanted to keep him, they would have franchised him, and brainwash him into playing with the tag.

Tampa Bay looks like a main player to me in the Hacket Sweepstakes. Not only do they run a West Coast Offense but they might have more cap room then any team in the league. I remember on Thursday Adam Scheftner reported that they were going to have to spend $X to reach the salary cap floor. Also according to reports TB isn't happy with their WR crop.

what the browns are doing will work, because (while the contracts are big) they aren't overpaying, and they're signing the right players.

And the Browns got Stallworth (is it just me or are the Browns really active every year in the offseason?)

Which means we're down to Javon Walker and Bryant Johnson in terms of free agents. While Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, and Larry Fitzgerald are all rather remote possibilities.
The Browns have been building to a big year soon enough. Last year it was the draft. I think they could go 11-5 this year. Then they could also go 5-11. Its all about momentum.

The thing with Stallworth is that 2 teams have now basically given up on him (the Eagles and Pats). He's young and has shown flashes of ability but there is a reason these teams have let him go without any fight whatsoever. Obviously, it remains to be seen if he can put it all together but I don't think this is a huge upgrade to their offense.

So true. The Browns and the 49ers seem to be very impressed with our past FA strategies.

They may be adding Travis LaBoy soon too.

I think the Browns are doing the right thing in trying to quick fix their defensive line, but they totally got fleeced in the Rogers deal. They gave up their best CB in Bodden, and a 3rd round pick, for Rogers (I never thought I'd see the day when Millen ripped someone off, but I guess you can't rule anything out in the NFL).

That's not all that dissimilar to the Champ-Portis trade, except that if you give me one player to build my team around, Portis or Rogers, I take Portis 99 out of 100 times.
