Much of the media in Baltimore think that Torrain is a legit starter in the league. I'm curious what other media members aren't seeing that they do.

Shanahan running backs are like X-Box 360's. They work great at first, but more times then not they end up with the red ring of death.

Torain definitely has a lot of potential. Shanahan compared him to Terrell Davis when he was drafted. His big knock to this point has just been injuries.

I don't see him slipping past the 3rd round. I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he goes in the 1st round. He's a baller...if he grows one inch, adds 20 lbs and is able to maintains his speed he's a 1st rounder for sure.

In the short term, this seems like a larger loss than most of us think it is. Yes in pass blocking, but in running as well. Portis average almost a full yard per carry more than Torrain over the last two games (Portis at 5.5 and Torrain at 4.64). If you take out their longest run over the two game span, Portis drops to 4.24 and Torrain drops to 3.33, still almost a full yard per carry more. It seems like Portis is getting more 5 yard chunks per carry. Torrain seems like he is getting stuffed at the line more often and he occasionally breaking a run for decent yardage to make his average yards per carry go up, but I don't he has the breakaway speed to get 36-yard runs consistently.

Portis doesn't have breakaway speed either. There would have been no issue with him falling down in the Rams game because he would have been fast enough to take it to the house and thus not worry about being caught from behind.

I'm not saying Portis has breakaway speed either, but he always seems to get 2 or 3 yards when he looks like he'll be stopped at the los. He gets 5 or 6 yards when it looks like there will be only 2 or 3. With Torrain, it seems like he either breaks a decent run or gets stuffed at the line.

That guy needs to go into the Ring of Honor for his many contributions to our team.
