The best move we've made this offseason

As for actual on field performance, I think his best days as a Redskin are probably behind him. But the Redskins never got a Plan B in the fold, and so even a hobbled 37-year old Fletcher saves us from the alternative and probably prevents Perry Riley from being exposed as a coverage liability a bit longer.
Damn Tripp you are really pissing in every bowl of cornflakes these days. Maybe Riley can improve?

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins

Now that Fletcher and Jackson signed, I can see the redskins going this way in the draft:

RT
LB
CB
S
RB
QB
WR
It could be in order of talent available at the time

I'm very happy with this move. He may have slowed a step or two but as of now we don't have his replacement on the roster. I hope he finishes his career here the same way it started.

As far as the draft goes, I think we go BPA in rounds 3-7. Maybe we intentionally go for a need with the 3rd rounder but everything after that is a crapshoot so they will probably just pick guys who they think will be good, regardless of need. And if one of those guys is a MLB I won't mind.

WOW...what a RELIEF!!!....
Now we can focus on our assumed starter needs, such as Safety, RT, G, Nickle

I'm sure they will focus on the most likely to start players in Round 3, which will probably be in these roles...

Don't blame the Skins for not having his backup yet, they tried...and only Riley panned out...and that aint bad...we just have 2 ILBs now instead of 1 due to the new 3-4
It takes a few years to effectively convert both the lines and the LB's...honestly, in 2 years, they've done a heck of a job...I thought they were nuts yr one since almost none of the LB's and line in the 4-3 were a fit for the 3-4...thankfully Fletcher slid in well....he was basically the only one that did....as a testament to his awesomeness!

ConGRATS SKINS...DRINK A BEER!!
Redskins add secondary depth, sign FS Tanard Jackson - Washington Times

Re: London Fletcher re-signs with Redskins

Great man, great player, great news.

Happy to have London back. He may not be quite the same player he was when he signed here, but he's a still a high-level LB, and his locker room presence and intangibles are so important to this team.

"Hobbled 37 year old"??

-Led NFL in tackles last year
-164 consecutive starts
-No significant injuries that I know about

What exactly does "hobbled" mean to you??

Perhaps you mean, "humbled". Feel bad that he had to be humbled by lack of interest before he came back to us. But we welcome him with open arms. He's going to decline for sure, but still better than most LBs out there. (Also, he's technically still 36 years old).

You are always negative just for negativities sake. That is the most ridiculous thing to say with no sustenance to back it up. There is no logic or valid reason to say that, other than he is 37, which is past most players playing days. But his numbers and starts say the complete opposite.

Anything lost in terms of physical ability is recovered and then some w/ smarter play, experience and leadership. And outside of drafting a 1st round talent w/ Ray/Urlacher/Fletcher type of potential, any thoughts of replacing him at this point are pretty absurd. You don't replace a tackling machine (the best in the business, literally) who is the undisputed QB/leader of the defense because he's a year older. The defense would fall to pieces w/o London, so the real story is how badly we'll miss him in 2014 unless ILB is priority #1 starting now.

I think people completely missed the point on that Fletcher post, but whatever.

Most of your posts are negative. I think most people here just don't care to examining them that closely, especially when you describe him as "hobbled". We're all happy London has re-signed here. 'Nuff said.
