He is light years ahead of Vick as a passer now.

I assume you mean Steve Young, not Vince Young...Fran Tarkenton is also a good comparison.

I guess that would be the norm if it was 1980-90s. But this is 2013 and I agree it is silly.

Agreed and I gotta agree with another poster in that he is still ahead of Vick. The guy is only going to get better and better. When he has all those SB rings he is going to get they will start comparing to Montana and Brady (well at least WE ALL HOPE he gets that many)

That's who Gruden compares him to, Skip says Aaron Rodgers.

Young's "fullback" style of running just doesn't gibe with RG3, IMO. I know the Elway angle has been overplayed because Griffin was a fan, but that's who I think of trying to compare RG3 to somebody. I liked the magazine cover with Elway and RG3. Both could scramble around defenders, not just hightail it for the sidelines after being flushed. Both ran bravely but seemed vulnerable to me. Both have a cannon arm.

Hope when RG3's career is over, he's one of the greats like the QBs we're discussing. HTTR!

Heres the best way to stop/slow down/or contain the read option.

Go to the 1:26:00 mark on the youtube video, 9:32 in the game.

The best way to stop the read option: Reed Doughty.

No doubt in my mind that if RG3 didn't get hurt, we would of routed the Seahawks that game.. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Agree with this, and I think we might have won also if Cousins was put in soon as RG got hurt.

Past is the past though and we can all hope the team is hungry to get to the playoffs again and make a run, no matter the ups and downs of the season.

Reed stayed home and maintained his assignment, which is part of the trick to defending the read-option IMO. Like that guy. Wouldn't mind if he's our SS this season if Merriweather can't go etc.
