That's progress?

Then yesterday. Don't even mention Cutler going down, cause McCown (an awful QB over the last few years) came in and torched the Redskins. But on defense the Bears were already injury-riddled..losing key members Helton and Jennings earlier in the year and were overall like 28th in the league. One of the announcers even jokingly said the Bears had some guys on the line who were meat-packers a couple weeks ago. Then they lost Briggs and Tillman etc for extended time. So yeah, the offense looked great against one of the worst and most injury-riddled defenses in the league.

That's a good gauge that the offense is "back"? The Redskins were at home, had all the advantages (that onside kick was not offsides) and still barely scraped out a win. This is still like a 6-10 team at best. Yeah it was a win but I can't see how anyone is really that optimistic about it.

RFKRat, everything you have written here is true, but it was also mentioned in one of the Washington Post blogs about how it seems like the Redskins have been "knocking out" key members of the other team almost every week. Yesterday it was Cutler. Before that it was McFadden, then Eddie Lacy, then Demarco Murray. Heck they even knocked out LeVeon Bell in the preseason and it took him around 6 weeks to come back. Fate, Fortune, who knows, but you can only play the guys facing you and all teams have injuries that make them less than full strength. Heck, the Skins were missing a 100% RGIII and a Jenkins, and a Rob Jackson the first 4 weeks. Wins are Wins and while I have every reason to expect the Skins to get crushed in Denver next week, stranger things have happened. The Colts are a good team but I didn't see them beating the Broncos last night and they did.

The Redskins are improving in some areas and not in others, but they were 3-6 at one point last year and after 9 games this year I will exect them to be better than that.

Im not understanding why people keep bringing up if Pryor woulda played we woulda loss. I f*cking forgot Pryor is on the same tier as Luck, untouchable apparently.

You'd expect a guy on a one year prove it deal would be working a little harder on and off the field. He's got nobody but himself to blame at this point.

I think if we can get Rak in Peyton's face, we'll have a shot at beating the Broncos. I really feel he's the missing piece of this defense. We need that guy to be dominant.

I agree. The Colts limited Manning by playing solid man-to-man with 7 guys and getting strong pressure off of the edges with 4 rushers. We can replicate that formula. If Rak and Kerrigan have good days, we have a shot at slowing Manning down.

My point was not to tout Cunningham - my point was that anything he could do, RGIII could do better.

That was the only really successful year he had when he was not running the ball alot.

Pressure on the QB is a must in order for us to win. Blitzing QB sparked our run last year. You cant let Manning sit back there and scan the field, especially with their Oline injuries.

The Dallas game they had two very short fields to defend bause of a kick return and RGIII's fumble. We also gave up another specials teams score. Take those away and the D would have won that game for us. You also have your games mixed up it was the Dallas game they joked about having players that were working as meat packers.

Also the onside kick was offsides and the announcers also said the same thing. I just love how people talk about all the could have been or players missing like its is the excuse of why a team won. No names and patch work teams when all the time in the NFL and its not surprising.

Can't really disagree with anything you've said. But it today's NFL, every single team has issues. I think every single win we get this year won't be a "complete" win....where all three phases click. I'm not losing perspective but that was a great game. 500+ yards and 38 points by the offense, RG3 played his best game, we have an emerging star at TE, Morris and Helu, DHall is playing some of his best ball as a pro...lot's of positives yesterday!

Why does running the ball take away what he did as a passer? He was an incredible dual threat QB.

He threw for almost 30,000 yards and over 200 TDs. And that was before the league became pass happy like it is today.

As I had posted earlier I fast forwarded a lot thru game.I went back and watched the last drive this morning without the ff.
As much as I've critized shannys for clock management I have to give him{them?}credit for the last drive.They didnt come out and panic because they were behind.There was plenty of time to score and they mixed in the runs and passes well.
There were some calls earlier in the game I had problems with,a couple of 3rd and 1s but the last drive was good.

Also RG3 looked pretty damn good on the last drive.Converted 2 big 3rd downs.The first one with the rollout I thought for sure was going to fail.He was running out of sideline and managed to squeeze the ball into Garcon who didnt drop it.
The 2nd 3rd down was clutch also.It shouldnt have been a 3rd down if Moss wouldnt have dropped that perfectly thrown ball that hit him dead center in the chest.And I dont believe it was knocked out,looked like the ball had already floated to his shoes by the time he was hit.Got to hold onto the ball in critical situations like that

I thought the call in the end zone was probably a good call, not because the WR dropped the ball just before the hit, but the helmet contact.

The penalty before that, what looked like incidental helmet contact at best on a solid shoulder hit on a WR that was just starting to run with the ball? This should have been any football fans reaction to that call.


Merriweather still has made too many dirty helmet to helmet hits IMO. I hate to wish a guy lose his job, but hope Goodell suspends him or we cut him. Let the Raiders or Seahawks have him.

The comment I wanted to make after the game was that: while it was fun to take over a game on offense, finally, and put up 45 points (38 on offense), I'm pretty sure we won't face a defense as depleted as that Bears defense that was down Briggs and Tillman at the end of the game.

But then I looked at the schedule. And there could be a lot more games like that this season. Lots of Giants, Eagles, Chargers, and Falcons the rest of the way. Still probably won't see a ton of quarters like that fourth against the Bears' scrubs, but something close to that isn't out of the question.

The running game, finally, is back. Perhaps for good. It's not just Morris-until-the-score-gets-out-of-hand. With Morris, Griffin, and Helu all getting a steady diet of carries, this unit can be very good.

It's nice that Aldrick Robinson was out there to pick up Garcon, who struggled. Of course, when you have Jordan Reed, do you really need guys outside the numbers?

Yesterdays game is what I saw when I went down to TC, we have a lot of weapons on Offense. We just need everyone to show up at the same time.
