Is Brian Kelly being talked about as a possibility? I would think it wouldn't be a bad thing

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
If you have to even ask that question than I don't even know what to tell you. Our coach isn't the only thing that needs to be replaced in this organization. As long as this organization continues to be a joke, we'll continue getting the 2nd hand coaches that only want to come here for a paycheck.

He could be the grandfatherly figure Bob needs to help regain his precision passing. Kinda like Yoda and Luke.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
I think that the Redskins should take a long look at the pool of minority candidates. I'm not talking about the spirit of the Rooney Rule, "doing the right thing" socially, or anything like that. I mean that in their own self-interest the Redskins should do this.
My reason is very simple. I believe that minorities are significantly under-represented in the NFL Head Coaching ranks. If you think of the search for a HC like it is prospecting for gold, then you don't want to stake a claim where the gold is played out. You want to mine in an area where there is still plenty of gold in the ground. If NFL teams had done their homework on minority candidates before now, there wouldn't even be a Rooney Rule. So, I think that some of the better HC candidates are likely to be found among overlooked minority coaches. To me, it makes little sense to sift through the usual re-cycled candidates because you're unlikely to find gold there. Instead, look somewhere that is likely to have big, shiny undiscovered nuggets.

Not seriously as far as I know, but a little bit. He's a dark horse candidate for sure

Schefter and Mort said the Texans have interviews lined up for next week so what is being refuted?

The coaching search should look at all candidates regardless of race. In fact, if race is even a small factor in the search, then Snyder and Allen are doing a disservice to the franchise. Interview the best candidates, and hire based on merits and merits alone.

SkinsfanOK said schefty reported "obrien to Houston" as if it was a done deal. That's what I was responding too.

NFL owners are very unoriginal and rarely take risks, They've been picking apart coaching trees for decades. during the 80's and 90's, every owner had to have a coach from the Bill Walsh coaching tree. Then Parcells hit it big and they wanted Parcells guys. In the last decade it was Belichick guys and they bombed in the NFL and college. There isn't a dominant system in the NFL anymore, it seems like everyone has a watered down form of the west coast offense. Snyder gambled when he hired Spurrier and Zorn. They both didn't have a proven NFL background. Then he plays it ultra safe with Shanahan and it completely back fires. I want fresh blood in here. I want a guy that isn't scared to move away from the norm. Hopefully Snyder can find the next innovator. |

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Yeah I really don't care about the coaching tree stuff. We need some coaches in here that are teachers first, can make in game/halftime adjustments. A few names that might make sense... Hue Jackson, Mike Zimmer, Ken Wisenhunt, Todd Boles....

As I said, it's not about race. I did not intend to imply that the Skins should only look at minority candidates. I just want the best HC that can be found and I have hunch where that may be.
