Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
I have decided our top FA targets, after resigning Hall, Orakpo, Riley, and Baker, should be Alterraun Verner and Emmanuel Sanders. Both are young, 25 and 26, respectively, both are still getting better, and both would improve their particular unit greatly. In addition, neither will be demanding top money. These two need to be signed.

Verner will probably end up getting a lot. He just made the Pro Bowl.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
In an interview with Comcast Sportsnet of Washington, Bruce Allen said that he expects to add 20 new players to the Redskins roster in 2014. That's after he re-signs the current Redskins who are FA's that he wants to keep. It's time for us to study the FA list a little harder.
Allen quotes: “It will be a little bit different” having cap space, Allen told Comcast SportsNet’s Chick Hernandez in an exclusive sit down interview. “But we want to first look at our players, make sure that we retain the ones we feel can help us win in the future. And then, with the left over money that’s available, we will fish around in free agency.” “It’s [comforting] to know we have [cap] room,” Allen continued. “But we also have a lot of spots on this football team that need improving. I wish we were deeper in personnel than we are right now.” Allen declined to specify which positions he’ll target in free agency and the draft, where the Redskins hold picks in rounds 2-7. But he did hint that roster turnover figures to be significant, unlike last offseason when management elected to retain 21 of 22 starters from the 2012 lineup. “That’s our job right now,” Allen said. “We’re going to have to get about 20 new players for this football team.”

No, I'm not joking.
I haven't kept up with his situation, so there may be some things I don't know about him that would change my mind. I just remember how he beat the crap out of us when he was healthy.

For what seems like the hundreth time, I'm going to make this point about Sanders: He can't catch! You and I would hate him in B&G as he would drop the ball in one key situation after another, just as he did in Pittsburgh.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
Other than our own, these are some of the FA I hope we take a look at:
Jeremy Maclin (1 year deal has a lot to prove health wise.) Brandon Tate (played in sissy knows the system.) Kenny Brit (If he stays healthy could be good big IF.) Ryan Harris (still young has had health issues.) Chad Rinehart (welcome back.) Michael Johnson (bring pressure on the QB.) Terence Cody (1st & 2nd down NT good run stuffer.) Brandon Spikes (pair him with Riley HELLO.) Taylor Mays (hell of an athlete dumb the DF down for him, have him chase the QB.) there are others but I think most not all could be got for decent $$$ and still have $$$ left over. |

Taylor Mays SS and Jaruis Byrd FS would be an interesting pairing.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
I like it. But I'm thinking TJ Ward SS and Mike Mitchell FS. Those boys can ball and we might be able to get both for about the price of Jairus Byrd alone.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
I am fine with that, but I think Phillip Thomas will get the first shot at SS.

Re: Current 2014 Free Agents
I agree, dont think we need to bring in a starter for the SS position. Let Thomas and Rambo fight it out for SS. We need a vet at FS fo sho.
