Your team kinda has to have a solid secondary to begin with in order to pull off that move. At least have a proven player at the other other Safety position in order to mitigate the obvious mistakes to come. We have neither at this point. Expect the secondary to further struggle if this occurs and safety doesnt play to Hall strengths.

But if it leaves room for an impact signing at safety, then I'm on board. The guaranteed $ is the key part in determining how much room this takes up.

IMO a very team friendly deal, he's made enough money and just wants to play for his hometown team. DH I'm buying your JERSEY.

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
seems to be a team friendly deal re the guaranteed money so that makes me happy.
i used to hate hall bc of the high completion percentage against him and his taking late/cheap shots every now and then but ..... i love his commitment to the team and fans. really do. i also love the fact he started sticking in nose in hard direct hits and stopped doing the deion sander's ohhhh-layyyy move. i would like hall to be our no 2, amerson no 3 and we sign a no 1 corner but ... having 2 no 2 ability corners in hall and amerson on the cheap isnt such a bad situation. i used to be a hall hater but over the past few years the man has really grown on me in his maturity and play.. i like him. |

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
i'm liking the continuity aspect of our defense so far this off-season, coaches included.. even tho haslett really makes me scratch my head sometimes.. players seem to have his back so.. this move points to more team friendly and 'positive direction' moves going forward IMO.

If this info from NFL.com is right, I'd venture a guess that the 2014 cap hit will be about $2.5M. Not bad.

I like this too. Now if the contract has a clause whereby each time he commits a stupid late hit for 15 yards that extends the opponent's drive, he has to buy dinner for the other starters on defense, I would be even happier.

Re: Redskins resign DeAngelo Hall to 4 Year Deal
Hall is getting paid like a no. 2 corner. He was better than that last year, not so much the years before that.
This is a pretty solid deal for the Redskins. I don't think Hall could have gotten more than this on the open market, and I think it would have been prudent to see what was out there. The CB market is flooded, and Hall's agent did great to get $3+ million in SB money from a team that had a lot of cap space. On the other hand, if you can negotiate a reasonable contract, it's hard to argue with that. The top corners on the market will sign for a lot more than this.

Seems like they're saving the money to throw at a safety. Not sure there's a ton there after Jairus Byrd.
