Damn that Moses injury sucks.
Obviously not that big of a deal but that will keep him off the field for a while and I was hoping he would get a first string promotion before mid season.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

I think he's mentally out of synch. Confidence is everything (look at Shaub), and those split seconds of indecision are everything. His stutter step hesitation to Morris caused the interception.

I'd say we have the pieces now to compete, we may have a good enough defense to take us into the playoffs if our offense showed up.. Come on, if RG3 could just get the ball to ANYONE (morris, jackson, garcon, roberts, reed) -- we'd be fine. But he's running it out of bounds for losses (!!) and telegraphing passes. Personally I think he runs it out of bounds instead of throwing it away so his completion percentage doesn't suffer, which is sad.

I'm just hoping (1) O-line gets better as they play together enough (including M.Moses playing well enough to come in mid-season to solidify the right, (2) RG3 starts to be confident again & not lose games for us.

But.. it's only preseason. Let's see what happens.

Funny when people choose to take Theismann seriously.

You can't make any direct comparison of how Cousins has played vs backups against how Griffin has played vs starters. Just ridiculous.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

Both Colt and Kirk played in pro-style offenses in college so they have more experience in the setup and reading defenses. RGIII is basically about 3-4 years behind those guys in terms of learning. To me, that's why when you get guys like Robert, you sit them for a year or two until they learn. Playing them too soon can crush their confidence and we've seen it time and time again.

This is true, although the Ravens didn't have their top three corners.

You can add to the list: Kyle and Mike Shanahan. Since both Cousins and Griffin were drafted both made multiple (as in many) comments about the exact same stuff. So for all those people, no I don't think they're wrong.

But i think the local media (and even the national media) and fans thinking that their comments translate directly into letting Cousins start over Griffin or otherwise giving up on Griffin is what's wrong.

I've yet to see any evidence to think, and I've yet to hear anyone with any real credibility state, that Griffin cannot become the elite quarterback we all want.

But there's lots of people implying, some outright stating, that Griffin's already a bust and Cousins should be the go to guy. Which seems quite silly at this point.

Two more weeks of this, then it's finally over for the year.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

I definitely don't think Griffin should start over Cousins... yet. This is going to be a very telling year.

I can't imagine that if he has abysmal stats this season that people won't start thinking he's a bust. If he can finish this season in the top 15 starting QBs, I'd say that's a successful year and will quiet the haters considering how straight up bad last season was.

Anything lower than that and I can't help but think the "RG3's a bum" folks will get even louder. The dude is healthy this year, he's had all off-season to practice without the brace and all pre-season to suck. He's got to shake that shit off and move forward.

We know he has the skills and the capability to deliver, he did it all in 2012. I hope he's not one those easily scared guys who talks a big game, then gets stage fright and weewees himself when it's time for his big solo.

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

It's so dumb how RG's mistakes are magnified and his visible progession as a pocket passer is minimized, while Cousins' mistakes are minimized and his big plays are magnified. It's like people want to hate our starter, which makes no sense.

So on that note, can we quit the "RG is a bust because he looked bad in a preseason game" crap? Until we see the Houston game, we won't have a good enough look at the guy to make fair judgements.

This. I think Jay was also testing Griffin in the pocket. He said a few weeks ago how, in my words, he wouldn't mind if the team struggled at times in the preseason so that they would have the opportunity to work through adversity and all that good stuff.
