I don't remember that, but Gruden has yet to prove anything to Snyder. Right now, Griffin is in the driver's seat if choosing one or the other

Thanks...it was after you had enlightened me on about a dozen previous questions...i just figured you might have other things to do. Lol. As I ponder the question there are two basic scenarios: 1) Griffin plays well the rest of the year and both Gruden and Snyder are thrilled. 2) Griffin does not play well the rest of the year. Than what? Does Snyder just give him another offseason to "get it"? Is he still in the driver seat in other words? There is always the injury scenario but we will leave that alone. |

I know that sounds like he's on a very long leash, and he is, but remember what the organization gave uo for him. Right or wrong, the front office will not write that off until 2015 is over. My opinion, and if SS thinks otherwise, I'll jump ship with him immediately... |

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
I have no idea how long the leash is, but I would have to guess that its length is directly proportional to how well he plays the rest of this season. Show some promise, even if there are hiccups, and then it's pretty long. Have a Dalton-esque performace or two (or get injured again, even if the injury isn't season-ending), I suspect it is fairly short. Personally, I would love to see him light it up and shut up all detractors once and for all.

I think you are rite. (Unless SS disagrees - than i jump ship too. Lol). Seriously what you say makes sense. The thing is I like Jay Gruden alot. Just something about him I appreciate and I hope at the end of it all - no matter what becomes of Griff - that he is still our HC. Ideally That Griff becomes great under his watch of course. |

I like Gruden too. Straight shooter without the silly evasive nonsense that Shanny (and Hoodie) pull with the media, which has always struck me as childish. I thought the way he called out the amatuerish reporting was terrific, and it wasn't eye-rolling, evasions -- he took it head on and then moved to the next question.
I also like that he has a sense of humor -- that job has a lot of pressure, and I think being able to chuckle from time to time is going to help against burnout.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
Who doesn't want a fairytale ending here, with Gruden committing to Griffin and Griffin responding with 10 years of outstanding quarterback play and a Super Bowl or two? That said, if it actually comes down to a choice between the two, Gruden should be the guy to stay IMO. Griffin is the closest thing we've had to a franchise quarterback in a long time, but he'll likely never reach that potential if we keep changing coaches. I love what I see out of Gruden and definitely think he's capable of finding a quarterback he's comfortable with(even if not as talented as Griffin) and then winning.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
So are we going back to a 4-3. This 3-4 thing always felt strange to me and it has never worked. I miss the days of having pass rushing DE's (Mann and Manley) and runstuffing DT (Butz any one) The 3-4 was a cute fad but its time to go. I see Kerrigan and Orakpo (if he stays) playing great with their hands in the dirt. Hatcher could play that scheme but the rest of those fat, unathletic DT's have to go.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
It will be a damn shame if Rak leaves for a 4-3 defense and kicks ass, which he will, and then we switch to a 4-3. It'd be quintessential Redskins though.

Re: Expectations for the rest of the season...
What makes you so sure he becomes an all pro in a 4-3 defense? He still got to go up against tackles?
