There is 0 proof behind this. It sure didn't help Stevan Ridley. He was benched for fumbling.

Well let's see. Our organization has done some stupid things in the past. If the Redskins had already gone through SpyGate and then gotten busted for this, I'd be pissed at the organization (and around here it takes very little for that to happen).

I would also be confused as to why our QB would break the rules to do something that clearly has not given them a competitive advantage.

Come to think of it, you could say that this organization already has its "strike one" from CapGate. So maybe our team needs to make sure they are doing things within the rules so they don't get busted the same way the Pats did.

I think opinions do vary greatly around here. You are not alone in thinking the PSI is not a big deal. Cooley and some other NFL players have said they could probably barely tell if there was a difference and dont think it tipped the scales of competitive play.

Other posters here and other NFL players do think it is a slight advantage.

My opinion is that it probably did give a slight advantage to Brady, or else Brady would not have done it and would not have been so pissed after the Jets regular season game in wk 5 or wherever when the balls were not able to be under-inflated. The fumble stats are interesting and the statistical anomaly cannot be ignored.

The whole ducking into a bathroom scheme just smells bad. pun intended.
Brady and the Pats went all in or broke. They gambled and lost. The text messages were the silver bullet and explained the PSI variance.

The punishment cannot be tied to the level of competitive advantage that was gained by the illegal act. If that were the case, every team would have a green light to commit slightly illegal acts knowing a slap on the wrist was the only deterrent.

Thats another thing. In punishment there is specific and general deterrent. The League had to bitch slap the Pats bc they have exhibited a pattern and practice of knowing violating league rules.

The league also had to set a general deterrent for the rest of the teams - you scheme to gain an advantage, you do not cooperate fully, you make one-sided smear campaign comments to the public knowing the league cannot rebut in public bc of an on-going investigation = you will get bitch slapped.

I, for one, love the bitch slap.

Skinsfan - you have your opinion, stick to it buddy but keep your mind open. this is about so much more than PSI for 1 game imo.

If a Pats running back gets the fumbles, he doesn't dress the next week and is standing on the sidelines holding a football.

Of course they do. As a head coach, you would sideline players who couldn't even hold on to a deflated ball.

Well with the cap hit, everyone here was pretty much upset about it. Some of you wanted to kill John Mara. Although this isn't a rule, obviously the Redskins did something they were told not to do.

I have no doubt that if Tom Brady were our QB, and lead our organization to 4 Super Bowls, the opinions here would be totally different. I'd bet my life savings on it. People here would be furious, just like the cap situation.

I'm sure there were plenty of people upset with the organization for what they did. The problem with CapGate is that the league did exactly what the NFLPA was accusing them of doing.

Yes, fans will be biased, but that doesn't change the fact that in the eyes of the league our team did and what Brady did was wrong.
