And thank God we got Doctson. Lol. I know he could be potentially very good even great. Who knows? Im being a wiseguy. But I wouldn't argue BPA using him as an example of why it works at this point because we know nothing about him at this level.

Based on watching our defense next year, there aren't many guys that I think should be starting on a playoff caliber team.

CB - Norman
CB - Breeland
FS - Draft or Free Agent
SS - Draft or Free Agent
OLB - Draft or Free Agent
MLB - Cravens
MLB - Draft or Free Agent
OLB - Kerrigan
DE - Draft or Free Agent
NT - Draft or Free Agent
DE - Baker

Now, I'm not saying all of these will actually happen, but I could see a lot of guys being replaced. Depending on how Fuller plays the last 5 games, we might also need a new slot CB.

Basically need a lot of help right down the middle.
Good post.

Am I the only one liking Mason Foster at MLB? Not a pro bowler but a very solid tackler, helping us against the run.

I also think if we improve at DL, Murphy and Smith can do the job at OLB.

In an ideal world, I agree with you, but as somebody said, you can only fill so many holes.

Realistically, I think priority should be SS, FS and DL. I can live with keeping Baker, Kerrigan, Murphy(Smith), Cravens, Foster, Norman and Breeland as starters.

IMO Will Compton isn't physical enough but he seems to be a great team guy in the locker room and on the field... Don't know what to think about him.

Re: Cowpukes postgame finger pointing thread

There are plenty of B list things to complain about like the sun in your eyes and stuff but we lost this game because of our defense.
The players and the coaching.
We needed to slap around Prescott and we did not.
Especially while he was stiff arming our secondary and running into the end zone.
That first drive of the game was just stupid.
Its like we were Leesburg High School.
The offseason needs to be about defense.

I had no problem drafting him and still don't. I still don't think we'll re-sign Jackson, so he'll be a starter next year.

I think Compton and Foster are great backup linebackers but only average starters. Ideally you want to be better than average at every position. Also, if we didn't already have Kerrigan, Smith/Murphy are pretty solid starters, but i'd prefer 1 speed rusher and 1 bull rusher, with the other guys rotating in or being used in our other (non-base) defenses as needed.

But I will say he fucked up big time by not calling a timeout until :11 left in the 2nd quarter. We wasted 15 valuable seconds there

We can't do that in one off-season, if ever. Some of these guys will need to stay for a couple more years.

CB - Norman
CB - Breeland
Slot CB - Fuller (I hope)
FS - Draft or FA
SS - Cravens
ILB - Foster
ILB - Steven Daniels, Draft, or FA
OLB - Kerrigan
OLB - Galette, Draft, or FA
DE - Baker
DE - Draft or FA
NT - Draft or FA

I stated "Now, I'm not saying all of these will actually happen, but I could see a lot of guys being replaced. Depending on how Fuller plays the last 5 games, we might also need a new slot CB."

So I agree, we're probably not going to have that many new starters. And Cravens could have been listed at MLB or SS, he will be a quality starter for us for years to come no matter where they put him. I just based it off how they are using him this year.

After 2 straight years of injuries, I don't think you can go into a season assuming you'll not only have Junior healthy, but that he will also be the same player, after not playing for 2 years.

I am interested to see how Daniels plays, he isn't a flash guy, but he led a great defense in college.

Yea I think the knock is some people were thinking Whitner still had something in the tank. He clearly is below E.

Re: Cowpukes postgame finger pointing thread

We need 2 new dline starters and we need to extend Chris baker. I'd let Ricky jean walk, and keep ziggy hood, Matt iannadis and Lanier as rotational/developmental depth.

I'd spend our 1 or 2nd round pick on dline and spend money on a mid range-high end dline free agent.

Folks, this is based on what Dallas has on their Oline...we need to play better against them.

IMO Ihenacho is playing better. But yeah we have to wait next year to improve the position.
Just saying I'm disappointed by his play.

Galette is far from a given. I just think he'll be the first player they'll evaluate for that spot.
