Moving Sua to Safety would not only allow him to regress at Linebacker this year. It'll prevent valuable experience he could obtain at the tail end of the year at his more natural position.....Linebacker.
We're not going to agree on Cravens' eventual position. I don't see the need to move him to SS this season but I'd like to see him starting there next season.

He'd probably be a little quicker at 215 lbs.

Re: Cowpukes postgame finger pointing thread

the more I think about the Red Zone issues and some of our losses...I think Gruden & company need to man up and admit their failures.

Time to get some fresh eyes in to review things. Bring in an ex-coach or an ex-OC. I'm all for letting Wonder Boy McVay learn on the job, but some of these lessons are painful and costly.

There is still time to turn this around & make a deep run into the playoffs. We can't fix the defense right now, but we can certainly make better calls in the Red Zone & get that going with our current personnel.

Absolutely not! Never bring in an outside consultant to second guess your coaching staff. Remember what a disaster it was when Dumb and Dumber brought in the former OC from GB who literally had been calling Bingo games at a Senior Center before he came here?

SM should just tell Jay Gruden to fix the Red Zone problem NOW.

Better yet, put on some film of the Gibbs era and the hogs, watch Riggo score 24 TD's in one season.

I said before the game the pass rush was the key and all we got was only one sack. A
DT better be our first rounder in
May. Our first 3 picks better be
D linemen. Can't give
Dark all day to pick us apart.

I agree about a DL, but I would think our first 3 picks ought to include, in no particular order, DL, C, Safety. Definitely the first pick hopefully will be a playmaker on defense, either line or safety.

Agreed. Also depends on what we get in free agency. I know we like to draft needed talent... But we did get Josh Norman in free agency! If we get a guy like him at DL or safety I'm good with that!

Thats about what I said prior to the draft last year but Scotty McClue had to go pick something shiny in the first round.
If he drafts offense in the first round again I will throw a hissy fit.

We do need a safety and if Jamal Adams from LSU is starring us in the face come draft day it would be hard not to pick him. That is Earl Thomas 2.0

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

agreed . . . we are WAY TOO SLOW of a defense right now as it is . . . 4.69 is good for mlb, but slow for safety, especially full time . . . we need an infusion of speed desperately in this defense.

You forgetting Vernon Davis? Him and Norman were considered 2 of the top 10 FA signed this off-season by NFL teams.

Let's hope he's not Laron Landry part II.

not only did we lose, but now we ought to root for Dallas for the next 3 games (Minnesota, NYG, Tampa)

Re: Cowpukes postgame finger pointing thread

USC LB/S Su'a Cravens ran the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds during Wednesday's Pro Day. Cravens notched an official time of 4.61 seconds, though (per TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline) some clubs actually had him lower than that at 4.55 seconds. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder went through drills as both a linebacker and a safety, with one onlooker telling Pauline that he looked "fantastic" and "caught everything but a cold." The analyst notes that most teams at this point are viewing him as a safety than a linebacker. Cravens himself echoed that assertion earlier on Thursday.

We all know that S'ua has game speed and quick reactions. Apparently, he runs closer to 4.6 than 4.7. He could play SS in this defense.
