we must protect this house!!
OK, so after this past week things around DC are definitely calming down. I am not saying that this loss was a good thing, but since it happened we have to use it as motivation. Hopefully the team now realizes that every game they go into is going to be a dogfight.
With the way the East is shaping up, winning at home is required. With the hated Eagles coming to play in primetime, the skins really need to step up and prove that they are a legitimate contender for the division. Obvious Keys to the game are preventing turnovers causing turnovers establishing a run game to open up the pass Not so obvious keys to the game: spreading the ball during the passing game establishing a drop back style passing game instead of designed rolls...the defenses are expecting the rolls and compensating with a heavy zone to the roll side the defense especially linebackers, need to read blocking schemes and have faith in the d-line to stuff the run what are your keys to the game? |

Re: we must protect this house!!
Everything that you said is true. But then, the same thing was said last week leading up to the Giants game. With so much on the line, knowing our weaknesses and understanding how important that game was, it meant nothing to the Redskins. They played like they wanted no part of that challenge.
No one, not one person could have forseen that kind of performance from a Joe Gibbs coached team. I'll bet no one would even dream that the same thing could happen two weeks in a row. But it could. With a furious Philadelphia Eagle team coming to town, they are facing the same circumstances and the same outlook if they are to remain in contention for the NFC East. The Eagles are just the team with just the right frame of mind to do with the Redskins what the New York Giants did. If the Skins don't play like they have never played before, they will lose this game convincingly. |

Re: we must protect this house!!
For Sunday's game the Redskins need to get the passing game going early. The Eagles secondary has been banged up and they have almost no pass rush. This could be a big game for Brunell and his receivers if they can execute. In terms of defense the Eagles are basically one sided in running almost 80 percent pass plays. If the Redskins watched the film from Philly in denver last Sunday they will see thta Denver was stacking 9 guys on the line of scrimmage and McNabb was panicing and thorwing the ball away. The only problem is that leaves T.O. in man coverage. But if the defensive line can control the Eagles offensive line and get a push McNabb has not been effective rolling out and he is weary of taking a hit so he could throw up some junk balls to get picked off.
It all will come down to one thing...EXECUTION!! |

Re: we must protect this house!!
Especially if TO is out like he thinks he is going to be the Redskins have to Lock up Westbrook. Their defensive focus should totally be on him. McNabb is hurt and doesn't have the playmaking ability this season.
As for the offense, the Line has to block, both run and pass block well, the rest will work if that happens.
