Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I'm just gonna wager winning goes a lot further in creating the fanbase with the next gen then the name does.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Yeah I mean the Packers have to be one of the worst names in pro sports and their colors are pretty ugly too but yet they have an enormous fan base.. It's all about winning and losing. If the Wizards won the finals nobody would care how bad that name is

Hard to find a name in today's culture that is simultaneously badass and doesn't offend any group of people though. I have low expectations. Generic names are all the rage (Kraken is the exception, but we won't do anything like that).

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
I think Warriors is still in play, Red Wolves has faded away on social media big time. They will probably stick with WFT, their whole thing is they want to make sure Redskins isn't forgotten or lost and if you name it Warriors it could ruin it for a bunch of older fans. Just my thoughts

Warriors is a bland knock off of the Redskins, unless they took it too the military side, but even that would rile feathers. Washington Wolves, inking a new stadium deal in the old rfk location and naming rights to REI (REI Stadium Home of the Washinton Wolves) Or my true personal favorite (which has no shot) Washington WereWolves, build the stadium design as a full moon, get London Fog to buy the stadium naming rights, and have a mist over every home game opening. Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Anything w/ a wolf just makes me want to vomit. We will have idiots running around constantly making wolf sounds. We will go from Hail to the Redskins, something as iconic and well branded as that was, to people making wolf sounds. When we score we will have the entire stadium making wolf sounds. IDK, maybe I am just not willing to move off of our history but I just can't go there. That just tilts me in the wrong direction. Dan Snyder if you are surfing on Redskins chat rooms or WFT..smh, please do not go in that direction. As bland Warriors is it still has an attachment to our brand and that to me is way more important than anything else. You can call this team Warriors and put the arrow on the helmet.

This entire thing was a bullshit witch-hunt drummed up by a bunch of fucking crybabies. If you are going to go after the Redskins then go after everyone else. If Snyder has any balls, which he doesn't, he will call them Warriors and make the imagery an arrow. I wish we had an owner w/ some balls that would have taken it to court. Fought it until the bitter end. |

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Nah, surely the NA's will settle for a similar name/imagery. Let's just change the name to Bloodskins.

Unfortunately the problem with your argument is that the same people who went after the Redskins for their name are also going after every other sports team named after a Native American. The Cleveland Indians announced last year they are going to be changing their name after this season too. IMO, it's only a matter of time before the rest fall. Native American names and imagery are on the way out. Honestly if we changed the name to reflect some other untarnished fighter from history I'd be cool with that. Problem is there aren't many left whose names haven't been sullied with time.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
Those teams will change too, eventually. They may either be forced financially by business partners a la Washington or be proactive like the Cleveland Indians. I used to be a staunch defender of the names but the research and data on how damming NA mascot and imagery is to NA youth is so solid it is hard to defend it. Whatever it is a moot point now. In terms of WFT I liked it, thought it sounded like it had a sense of prestige about like the New York Athletic Club or the Millrose Athletic Association but I can get why most don't like it.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread
TE signed:
@AdamSchefter Veteran TE Ricky Seals-Jones signed with the WFT, per source. Washington’s TE room now includes Logan Thomas, Temarrick Hemmingway, John Bates, Deon Yelder, Tyrone Swoopes, Sammis Reyes and Seals-Jones.
