Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Winston is a much better passer than MT will ever be.

JW was running a pro style offense in college. I'd take JW all day over MT. |

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Gut says Winston goes to Steelers.
Draft a QB at 11 + sign a Trubisky or Winston = most likely result. Winston led the league in passing yards in 2019 (5,109 yds, 33 TDs). Pro style QB, limited mobility. Trubisky won 11 games, 7.4 pass yds/att and a 71 QBR in 2018. (Heinike had a 39.9 QBR last year as context) Hopefully we can get a Winston or Trubisky, they might want to go elsewhere. |

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Also WInston has a cannon and can stretch the field, he's just not mobile at all. MT doesn't have the arm but he has the legs..

JW was less mobile before he tore his ACL. He may have a better arm, but I don't think it's significantly better. He's never had a winning season and he turns the ball over too much. Haven't watched MT play a whole lot, but for his lack of experience (basically one year starting in college) he has fared pretty well. I've seen people say that the Bears' 2018 season was a success because of their defense, but MT did pretty well that season too: 11-3 record 66.6 completion % 3223 passing yards 24 TD/12 INT That's not too bad for a young inexperienced QB in his 2nd year - taking his team to the playoffs. Here's PFF's draft profile for him: Despite being a one-year starter, Trubisky is very polished as a passer playing with good balance and consistent mechanics, which leads him to throw with great accuracy in the short/intermediate passing game. Although he comes from a version of the spread in his college offense, he was asked to do many full field progressions and showed he can click from receiver to receiver quickly and efficiently. Has very good pocket instincts and ability to keep eye level up to see receivers down the field while moving within the pocket. His three-quarters release may lead to more batted balls at the LOS but is likely not a huge issue at the next level. Will need to work on hitting his deep shots with more consistent accuracy to keep defenses from sitting at the break point. Shows all of the tools to develop into a very solid NFL starting quarterback and appears to be the safest option of the 2017 quarterback draft class. I think MT has more upside at this point than JW, and is only going to get better. JW has 77 NFL starts - we know who he is. MT has 50 NFL starts, and quite honestly has looked like the better QB despite his lack of starting QB experience when he arrived in the NFL. |

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Chief, you got that MT Jersey on pre-order? I’m ok with either MT or JW
Just no Jimmy G who is under going shoulder surgery and will not be able to throw until summer. There is no way in hell I want Jimmy G.

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
Amazing how not playing a year takes some of the tarnish off a guy. We could have signed MT a year ago on the cheap but instead went with a 38 year old Fitzpatrick.

I would be fine with either MT or JW as well. I would just prefer MT if those are the two choices. Could have signed JW a year ago too, as he was a free agent, but as you said we went with Fitz and paid him twice as much. |

I'm not advocating for JW, just saying I'd take him over MT, if all other options are off the table. |

Wintson or Trubisky = Im fine with either. Theyre both dark clouds with silver linings. Im starting to think we might not even be able to land either. ---------- Apparently we inquired about Mahomes. No joke. Why not? 2 second phone call I imagine. --------------------------- |

I did hear that the QB search started with 42 QBs on their list - and that they reached out to every team to inquire about a quarterback’s availability and the cost, and their list consisted of 42 quarterbacks. |

Re: 2022 veteran QB options
I’d be more scared about getting a QB from Andy Reid again. The whole time I’d be like what does he know?!
