Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
Hey guys I feel good that the skins won but, not great like I should. I don't like the fact that the win was tainted with controversy. I felt that the buc receiver caught that ball in the end-zone while having possesion and both feet down, then his knee went down while still having control. That call may have been our make-up call from the last time these teams met, but I doubt it. It just takes away from our chance to share in a little "revenge" or "just desserts" when our team wins like that. Our offense was terrible, and our defense gets all of the credit for this win. Hopefully Gibbs will have new and innovative was for the offense to play like a like an offense that is in the playoffs. This team deserved a win but, not this type of win. Go skins!

We're the opposite of that Rams team that had no defense a few years back, but could score at will. |

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
They said this was the worst offensive performance by a winning team in the playoffs since the Ravens exactly five years ago to the day, and all I could think was...well the Ravens won the Super Bowl that year

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
It was awesome what I could at work and it was pretty sweet to wind up checking in on the game at key moments like lavars int and then portis's td run, the fumble for a td, and the game clinching int by mr. washington.
with my peice of crap vcr letting me down, does anyone know if they might reshow the entire game on another channel sometime this week? |

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
It was not technically by the rules a catch. I think again the officiating was stellar for a playoff game. The call went our way. Embrace it and enjoy!!!!!

My response to that? "Scoreboard." Looks like I'll be sporting the burgundy and gold at work for another week. The Redskins have really simplified my wardrobe choices for the past six weeks. Lovin' it!

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
I don't know what some of these people thinking it was a td saw cuz every single replay showed the ball was shifting around all the way to the ground while being tackled before it completely popped out of his control. When catching a pass in the endzone the player must have full control of the ball and then must maintain possesion of the ball while being tackled and he didn't do either of those things. If the jerseys had been swapped I would not be mad about the call but I sure as hell would be mad about the wr dropping the tieing td. the only replay I thought might actually go the other way from what I saw was the fumble recovery for the td cuz I thought marcus had been touched down recovering the ball at the spot of the fumble but I only got to watch it replayed once before going back to work.

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
The call was the correct call. Mike Carey is easily the best official in the NFL and has been for several seasons now.
As for the offense I think it was partly a function of the lead. Gibbs is super conservative, especially in his own end of the field. With the way his defense was playing you force the Bucs to beat you the hard way. Some of our players need to appreciate this strategy better and not throw back across the field to a reciever who has shown no ability to make plays (Brunell). Others, while deserving credit for a special teams tackle shouldn't shank the most important punt of the year 14 yards (Frost). Having said that, it was a win and it WAS NOT TAINTED. I think Chris Simms is a great story too but it's not our fault he kept bouncing balls off Cornelius Griffin. I felt the anouncers' sympathy for the kid left the impression that somehow it was mean of the Redskins to win.

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
I'm proud of this team! I know they'll do their very best next weekend, but I am just happy they made it to the playoffs and advanced. We've beaten the Seahawks before and I think we'll put up a good fight against them.

Re: Official Wildcard Celebration Thread
Thank you Defense for once again letting the offense to play another game! Without you we would be home on the couch watching the playoffs with the cowboys and eagles. Thanks again Gregg Williams!
I cannot believe we just showed up the number 1 Defense by getting more TDs and turnovers than they could ever dream of. Chris Simms played extremely well for a rookie. Watchout for this kid in the future. Go skins! I can't wait to get another shot at Seattle who we did get a w for earlier in the season but probably did actually get beat by. I can't wait to get another shot at containing, NO STOPPING Mr MVP Sean Alexander. Goodluck Sean, you'll need it. Skins 28, 'Hawks 24. :headbange |
