Re: offensive coordinator

I totally would love to see Al Saunders here. KC's offense has been awesome for years now. Look at what Al Saunders did there. Great running back + good quarterback + average receivers and a great tight end = one of the best offenses in the league. We have all that in Clinton Portis + Mark Brunell + one of the best receivers in the league in S. Moss + Chris Cooley = we could be great as well.

Lets face it the title assistant head coach is just that, a title, makes guy's feel more important, I am sure both will have equal billing on their side of the ball, all that matters is ultimatly you have one man in charge of everyone and that's Gibbs.

Williams ability to do his own thing on defense should only enhance Saunders to sign on with Gibbs, knowing he will call the shots on offense should be a comfort for him. I am also fairly sure he is very familar with Gibbs, his style, and how he treats his coaches, I hope this works out.

Well there's Assistant Head Coach-Offense (Joe Bugel) and Defense (Gregg Williams). I guess he would "replace" Bugel. I don't think Buges would mind having that title stripped. Everyone knows his true value to the organization

Well, it probably would read: Assistant Head Coach/Offense
Gregg Williams: Assistant Head Coach/Defense

I don't think it really means he would jump the gun over Williams. Besides, Williams is clearly the "unspoken" favorite to succeed Gibbs in the grand scheme of things. Also remember, per ESPN, Gregg Williams has a clause that if he's still on the staff when Gibbs retires and doesn't get the head coaching job, he get's $1 mil. So, I would have to think that unless GW falls out with Snyder and Gibbs or just flat out leaves, he'll be the next head coach.

Why do I get the feeling that if Snyder chose someone else, he's not going to have any problem handing over $1 million to GW?

You're so right. And not only that, but the available choices that GW had this year probably won't be as attractive to him when that day comes anyway.

Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!

This is well worth a new thread because the news is official! Wow, what a signing...from a top scoring offense in the NFL for a long time. Everyone has always said Gibbs is an increadible manager who is skilled at his picking people; lets hope this is just another step in a winning direction.

My only hope is that its not "too many cooks spoil the soup." However, I cant imagine that Gibbs would have brought him in if he thought anything like that...GO SKINS!

Re: It's official - Al Saunders is our new offensive coordinator!

I think this will really help our offense this year. If Brunell stays healthy, or if perhaps Campbell gets a chance and does good, i could see us having one of the top offenses in the league next year.
