Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
Quote:
Doesn't look good for our chances to get a high pick for Ramsey if someone like Ray Lewis isn't drawing more interest than just a 2nd rounder. |

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
Ray lewis was overrated in his prime, he is well past his prime.
Ramsey still hasnt reached his prime. there are many decent linebackers to take rays player, there arent many QB's with a talented upside. |

Ramsey may not reach his prime, or he is past his prime-which didnt last long.

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
Ray Lewis isn't drawing much attention because he's old ~ 10 years in the league, comming off of injury who's gonna give a 1st for a player like that? nobody... Ramsey's gonna get more value. QB' s don't come along everyday. MLB's will apear on the team before a good QB will

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
Wow, what's really interesting about that is I was just telling my brother the other day that there have been a lot of NFL scouts on the Tulane Campus this week. Tulane only really has one guy that I could see garnering this kind of attention and his name is Anthony Cannon. He's a MLB. The teams that I've seen are the: Ravens, Colts, Jags and Cowboys.
I thought it was very strange that the Ravens would be here considering they have Lewis, but I figured maybe it was cause he's on the downside of the hill and they wanted a long term solution. |

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
age and contracts r a big reason he probably isn't garnering much in trade talks and he's also coming off a somewhat serious injury after a pretty down year. and history has shown that the position most teams r willing to take a chance by giving up something maybe a little higher in value than they should is QB. I mean look at the Dolphins and AJ Feely
it's too bad the team didn't get rid of Ramsey when we still could have easily gotten a 1st rounder for him since the last 2 years his trade value has dramatically dropped.

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
I wouldn't write off Lewis just yet, he was injured last year but the year before he had 146 tackles.
I think he's still got a few good years left, but you can't blame the Ravens for looking to get out from under his contract. |

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
lewis is no longer amongst the elite linebackers in this league, especially considering the salary he is going to command.and until campbell is ready to go,ramsey isnt going anywhere

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
The reason it's hard to trade Lewis is the same reason (well, almost the same) it's hard for the Eagles to trade TO. The contract you'd inherit is outrageous.
The fact that he's on the blocks indicates he might get cut, which means he'd be out there for nothing. The Ravens haven't (yet) given him permission to find a new deal, so whoever trades anything for Lewis may be forced to abide by the contract he has. Unless a team knew they could substantially reduce his salary, he isn't worth trading for at all.

Re: Ravens shopping Ray Lewis?
They tried to trade him before last season and couldn't get anything better than a 2nd round draft pick offered for him. It had nothing to do with the contract the team would be getting with him, its the fact he wanted "peyton manning type money" and no one is gonna pay him that at this time in his career.
He was great a few years ago, but in recent years he's an undersized middle linebacker with several injuries in recent years, and he isn't the highlight reel he used to be. Think about it, how often was he shown this season...and its not just because the ravens were losing. Folks still talk about him like he's the greatest, but they are talking about the Lewis from 3 or 5 years ago. Well, thats my .02 but I think you got ripped off. Basically, he wants out because he wants huge money, and no one is gonna pay huge money to a guy they picked up for a 2nd round draft pick. Da Bum |

I still say 4th rounder sounds right for Ramsey, 3rd if we're fortunate.

Linebacker is a young man's position. Lewis would be well advised to take a decent offer and stay in Baltimore. He will not get the treatment that he is used to anywhere else. Those dumb SOBs in Maryland think he commands the dawn and they can keep him. Nobody else wants to deal with his bullshit.

That dance...folks make a big deal because Moss, the randy not the Santana, acted like he mooned the crowd. Yet somehom lewis' dance is great, and shows his passion for the game? what crap...not suprising though, everything I see from the guy makes me think the only class he ever had included a teacher.
