Uncapped year - Bad for Gibbs, Good for Williams

According to Upshaw today a new CBA seems unlikely (which may be smoke). If this happens it will be painful for the Skins right now but they also say that if the league goes uncapped it probably will never get the cap back (also hard to believe). If these things hold true it will be only a matter of time before Snyder turns this team into the Yankees of the NFL, while smaller marketed teams become doormats (sorry GB).

My question is this - If this happens will winning the Super Bowl seem as sweet for us diehard fans knowing that the playing field was uneven?

Interesting points, but I don't understand the thread's title. How is the uncapped year bad for Gibbs and good for Williams?

Also, this probably should be discussed in the long and ongoing thread about the salary cap analysis.

we basically did that before the cap by hiding guys on injured reserve.winning is what its all about, regardless of how it happens.do you think steeler fans think less of their victory because of the crappy job the refs did?i bet they dont care at all

I think baseball is actually BETTER becuase of that. When is the last time the Yanks have won the series?? It was back when they did things right. At least now we can take care of our own guys, and not get into situations like we did with Smoot and Perice last season. At this point, if its not signed, I think in a way you have to conceede the 2006 season. Not totally, but in terms of personell, you have to make sure you can have the turnover of guys as 2007 and beyond occurs.

And if we become the Yankees, I dont really give a crap. I'd sell my soul for a Super Bowl win, I really dont care how it comes.

No salary cap means we win.
We have SICK money and players want to play for Gibbs.

Didn't we learn anything with Deion, Big Daddy, etc.

You can't just buy a team. So much goes into making a productive team, it takes those guys willing to do the dirty work. A work ethic most "stars" refuse to take on. At first I was excited at the chance to have an uncapped year, but I don't want it anymore. However, I think the league realizes how important the cap is and will drop the revenue sharing down.

I couldn't agree more! One of the reasons that the NFL is so great right now is that you never know who is going to win it all. The Yankees have completely ruined baseball. It's not worth it although I won't be too upset if we have a 250 million dollar payroll and our backup safety is Ed Reed.

The skins can win with a level playing field. We proved that this year. We are one or two players away from a legit Super Bowl run.

With no cap, I would say that buying draft picks would definitely be a possibility.

The NFL without a cap would be a disaster IMO, I'm really hoping they hammer something out at the last minute.

Well it looks like it is a done deal friend!!! Out here on the left coast the 49er owner said he see a very dark out look on a new CBA on KMBR! Also Al Davis has said thursday in the SF newspaper he believed that it was highly unlikey that a labor agreement would get done. Talk about killing the golden gosse and both sides are at falt!
