Re: Weight Of Division Record

I agree with the above poster, pretty much everyone in our division plays the same teams, I like how it's setup now.

He tried to say they had such a great season b/c they won the division, but he wouldn't listen to my arguement that we had a better division/playoff record.

I honestly believe that if you go 6-10 with your only wins coming against division teams, you should have every right to claim the division championship. If the other teams couldn't beat you at least once, are they really that much better?

division.
This argument makes no sense to me. We don't just play the 6 games within the division, we also play 8 other games against opponents that each of the NFC East teams also has to play. That makes 14 games against common opponents, and each one is a fair measuring stick to use to compare to your division.

Division champion based on six games??? Are you guys crazy? That would render the other 10 games of the season almost meaningless. There are 12 playoff spots, 8 of which are reserved for division champs.

But you still came up with it on your own without seeing it anywhere, right? You didn't know it was already around, so you can feel good about that.

I always liked the OBGYants.
The ones I like for the division teams are:
Gay-Ain'ts
Dall-Asses
E-Girls

Re: Weight Of Division Record

It's fine as it is now... imagine having a division winner with less overall wins than the 2nd place team?? That would be a real head scratcher. With only 6 division games, it would place way too much emphasis on those games.

Re: Weight Of Division Record

I never advocated basing the championship soley on divisional record... rather wanted to see if others thought there was merit in giving some weight to divisional record as a separate entity.

Divisional rivalries might become overemphasized, however. Some good thoughts being thrown out.

yes, you are reaching that 1000 mark rather quickly so the 500 mark is considered to miniscule to bother THE BSB with. I will be watching at 1000, yet today I don't know why I feel like I should be honored, almost like it is a special day... HMMMM.

Re: Weight Of Division Record

no, i like the fact that we play the same teams as our competition outside of 2 games and it makes more than just 6 games important but those six are still extremely important because you can serve up a loss to someone.

I do think the season could be extended though. Add 1 more bye take away 2 pre season games and play 2 more games every year agaist 2 teams of the 6 that are not played in the conference. If 4 games could be added I would say play 1 full division in each conference and 1 game in the other 5 conferences plus 6 inside the division games being 8+6+6=20 games. ehhh, 20 might be to much but I would like 2 more games a year. The off season is just to long.

But the way it is now, a team can go 10-6, losing all of their divisional games, and they could still win the division based on overall record. That makes no sense either, IMO.

Of course that could happen, but chances are pretty slim.

Even if that did happen, I wouldn't have a problem with that vs. a team going 6-10 and winning the division.
