I'm pretty sure it wasn't staged because it hurt Rome's career for quite a long time. Plus, Jim E was pissed off from the get-go and I don't think he has Oscar Award winning level acting ability.

Getting back on topic, sorry for the Rome distraction, I think Ben is going to bounce back and be just fine this year.

But imagine for a second if he had died in that accident? Super Bowl winning QB dies in motorcycle accident?

Wow, just the thought is scary.

that would send shockwaves throughout the whole league. every player would have some kind of stipulation in his contract prohibiting motorcycles or anything else they deemed "dangerous"

Football's version of James Dean.
Talk about the legal legacy of a legend.

If that had been the case I bet Big Ben would have been made a first ballot HOF'er just based on his number of wins. The sports writers would put him in based on total speculation of what his career could have been.

I think it would have almost been worse if he ended up like Christopher Reeves or something, just because he'd be a constant/living reminder of what could go wrong.

Jim Rome is an asshole. Epic. .. Phenomenal...

Christopher Reeve actually accomplished an amazing amount of good for spinal cord research. He also made people aware of spinal cord injuries as is shown by your post.

People need to realize that everytime they do anything they could be killed or paralyzed in accident, freak or not. The more risky the action is, the more horrible the consequence.

My father was paralyzed in a skiing accident. One of my friends was paralyzed because he was shot by accident by someone. You can be paralyzed playing football...

Every second you are OK and alive is a gift.

People who ride motorcycles without helmets are moronic. You forgot to wear a helmet?!!!?!?
That's like saying I drowned because I forgot to breathe while swimming.

Hopefully people don't need to be killed or paralyzed for people to realise this.

how much money was spent on Ben Rothelisberger, multi-millionaire, to save him? has he given money to the rescuers?
When you risk your life at society's expense, that's wrong...

Sorry that I'm preachy...

Go Skins!!!!!
