Curtis Martin Could Miss Season

Will he retire?

Will the Jets go with Blaylock? Or trade for Thomas Jones or Lee Suggs?

Five years from now, will Martin, Bettis, Faulk and Holmes be entering the Hall together?

Can BDBohnzie save Gotham from The Penguin's latest evil plan?

Re: Curtis Martin Could Miss Season

i could be wrong about the five year rule but martin wont be eligible until 1 year after bettis because he didnt retire before the start of the "football year".

anyways that really sucks. i like CM and i think he is one of the trully classy people in the nfl. he plays hard every snap and he definetly belongs in the HOF

Interesting point. I thought the rule applied to the beginning of the regular season. But you're probably right.

Re: Curtis Martin Could Miss Season

I saw that he was put on the PUP list at the start of training camp and thought he might just call it quits.

do you have a link?

Re: Curtis Martin Could Miss Season

On PTI they were talking about him possibly not being ready for the start of the season, but I missed the first half of the conversation so may have said he could be out for the whole season.
The Jets would be in HUGE trouble without him b/c of their crappy o-line and qbs.
They were talking about them maybe trying to get Travis Henry or Thomas Jones, but their respective teams would probably want a ton for them.

Jets | Martin's future uncertain
Mon, 7 Aug 2006 14:54:41 -0700
Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/27/nfl">New York Jets RB Curtis Martin (knee) recommended to the team before the NFL Draft that they should strongly consider taking a back high in the draft because of his concern over his ability to play in 2006. Martin had arthroscopic knee surgery in December to clean out his knee, but it has not responded well. With the team entering the second week of training camp, there is growing concern that his career may be in jeopardy. If Martin is able to play in 2006, it is unlikely he will be ready to go at the start of the season. Martin, who has had surgery on his right knee the past two seasons, remains on the team's PUP list. It is believed a great deal of the cartilage in his knee is gone, which is what is giving Martin problems. One team official said he's dealing with "bone on bone" in his knee.

Thats from KFFL.

This doesn't surprise me at all. And it shouldn't surprise the Jets either. If they didn't prepare for this inevitablility, it's their own fault. I mean how long could they expect Curtis Martin to carry that type of load?

Good point, Beemnseven. I've said all along injuries are a reality in the NFL, not an excuse.

Anyway this is yet another reason why Patrick Ramsey won't succeed in NY, right?

Re: Curtis Martin Could Miss Season

That's a shame. An NFL season without Curtis Martin will be very strange. What a great running back and great story he has on getting into the NFL.

.oO(Didn't realize I wore tights and fought crime?!?!)

With Pennington's lame arm and lack of O-Line, they're gonna need a workhorse...it's a shame they shipped LaMont Jordan to Oakland...

Blalock and Houston will split time for the Jets.

They should've listened to Martin and drafted a RB. They're in deep trouble. Crap at QB, no one at RB.

Martin is definitely "my favorite" player in the NFL today. It will be sad to see him go.
