32. Washington: The Redskins sort of skipped the draft and reached on Miami linebacker Rocky McIntosh, who was considered an injury risk by some teams. Joe Gibbs gave up a second-round pick next year and a third this year for Rocky. Gibbs said they took him because he liked the name and that they knew a lot about him. This is a franchise that cares more about spending in free-agency than it does working the draft. Grade: F
This is pathetic. Gibbs would NOT draft someone because of their name. That's idiotic.

Also, we didn't "skip" the draft...and McIntosh will be a great LB if he stays healthy. I'm happy with using a pick for him.

So, the Skins care more about free agency than drafts? Sure, that's why we're making a DRAFT pick our QB of the future. Rogers and Campbell were GREAT picks and I believe McIntosh will prove to be also in the long run.

If anyone should be ranked last in the draft, it should be the Jets. They have two glaring holes in their roster at QB and RB and ignored them both with their high draft pick.

I've gotta disagree here, I thought the Jets did a great job at picking up two young lineman that will start right away and they grabbed Clemons to address the QB situation. I thought they had a good draft.

Draft grades do not translate into wins, or final season records.

Draft grades are merely one mediot's opinion. Or a comination of several mediots.

Re: Fox's Draft Grade For Skin's

i get a kick out of people saying so and so was a reach. isnt everyone in the draft a reach? no one knows exactly how anyone will do once they reach the nfl. these same so called experts said ryan leaf and tony mandrich were sure fire hall of famers. the whole expert thing is a joke

And as it stands right now, we have at least four people we drafted looking to make a decent impact. Rocky is a given, but Doughtry, Golston and Montgomery are all looking to at least find their way to a roster spot.

The article admits the skins pretty much skipped the draft so I am confused how a grade can be given to something that was not really done. It seems to me a better grade for the skins would have been N/A because the skins didnt really draft.

1) Jeez Offiss, get with it. It's August. Draft reviews came out in May.

2) Draft grades. Pfffft. Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care. Draft grades are based upon a grade for overall draft talent, but never consider whether or not specific players fit into a system. Rocky McIntosh may have been overrated for the 35th pick, according to draft experts and Mel Kiper and That Guy (I'm convinced That Guy knows as much as Kiper about the draft), but it holds no relevance because each player is drafted for a specific fit in a system. Draft experts all analyze the SUPPLY side of player talent. They take a look at what a player does well, his strengths, weaknesses, etc. But they rarely consider the DEMAND side, meaning what the NFL team needs him to do. Rocky is worth the 35th pick because GW believed that while there were many LBs available, Rocky was one of the very few who could do what GW DEMANDS.

Re: Fox's Draft Grade For Skin's

Honestly, it just seems to me that they got an F just because they didn't select a bunch of over-hyped players out of college. The Skins took chances on previously injury-prone players that slipped to later rounds and should pay some dividends.

And undrafted free agents are just as important as your 6th and 7th round pick. With the way Jesse Lumsden is looking in camp so far, though he didn't come out of college this year, could pay the biggest dividends of them all. The way he's running, he may replace Ladell Betts right nicely next year as a very strong backup to Portis.
