Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I beleive he played well and is progressing. The pass to Espy in between 2 defenders backed up against your own goal line was nice. I see promise and progress. It is the guys 6th new offense (and cordiantor) in 6 years so I know he has the smarts.

What do you think will happen with ESPY. Practice squad player or cut. I would like to see us keep him around.

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I could see Espy being a practice squad guy.
I was happy with Campbell's performance. As has been said, beyond having a strong arm he had really good pocket presence. No happy feet. I'd like to see him struggle for a drive or two. Not that I want to see him struggle, it's that I want to see how he'll bounce back from it. What kind of leader will he be when he's missing throws, or his receivers are dropping passes, or he has to lead a 2-minute drill.

I don't think JC will be the # 2 man this year because Collins was brought in as saunders guy so he will get the nod. Keep in mind Collins was playing against mostly starters while JC was playing against scrubs. We'll see how he does against real players over the next few weeks. |

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I think JC should get the start in our next game so as to see exactly where he is at right now. It is hard to measure his progress against 3rd stringers, but I do think he did fairly well Sunday night. To me, he was poised and comfortable. Actually, I think JC should play a half, and Collins the other half.

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
also his pass to espy, threading the ball thru 2 defenders and also his pass to buck ortega. give him the first team offense and some playing time and we have in the making a mcnabb with stronger arm and a taller presence in the pocket

Re: Impressed with Jason Campbell
I copied this from Redskins.com Extreme fans forum. This is encouraging I think:
i made my annual trip to training camp, here are a few observations from the 50 yard line (for those interested...) coach gibbs: i didnt see him do much coaching, i am not saying that he was not coaching, he was more of an "overseer". after practice he signed plenty of autographs and gave me a religious pamphlet. i told him, "thanks for coming back", and i meant it. greatest coach i'll ever see. coach saunders: i went into today's practice not impressed with this guy at all, for my own reasons. i left today VERY impressed with him. this guy builds his players up. after every play he was coaching up individual players. i was very esp. curious to see his interaction with jason campbell and he seemed to be very positive and supportive. i like what i saw out of his coaching style, and the team ran some pretty nice plays. thumbs up for coach saunders. mark brunell: dude looks like he is hurt. he was gimpy. he didnt get as many snaps as campbell, but i am sure that is because he doesnt need as many. i want him to start and i want him to do well, but i have to call it like i see it and it seems that he has a leg problem. jason campbell: looked good. simple as that. not great, but he looked good. he looked like the teams qb, not a scrub at all. i am not saying that he is ready to be our main guy, but damn, he just looked good out there. good presence...you know the book on him. david patten: my pleasant surprise. good receiver, runs good, fluid routes. a definite pro receiver. my uncle went into today thinking he wouldnt make the team...we both feel that he will. moss, lloyd and randle-el: all looked polished and ready to go. carlos rogers: looking damned good and healthy. i am calling it right now...big year for him. sean taylor: routine sean taylor... i did see a blitz package for him...it was nice. i'll be looking for it in the season. marcus washington: looked great well, i am not going to name every player so i will summarize by saying that in all honesty...we have a powerful team. we looked sharp in all phases of the game, special teams, lead by sellers, defense looked good and the offense is going to put up points. what i saw today was a very cohesive group of well coached players. this is a superbowl caliber team. oh well, just wanted to share a few of my observations. if you have any questions, feel free to ask. i may add a few pics tomorrow if i get the time to shrink them.
