Re: Taylor Jacobs Traded

I guess the Washington- San Francisco connection was busy at work before the first pre-season game. Cerrato probably had to keep the door open for SF's other castoff's since to got a diamond in the rough in Brandon Llyod. Walt Harris top's all CB's in this scenario with the least amount of chance to be retained by San Francisco after the first opening game.

rumph is a former first round pick, i think he is better at safety than cb but could fill in as a backup if he can learn the system. i believe he went to "the U", so thats yet another "the U" player

Hardy-har-har. Bad joke, but see I'm slowly getting us back on topic.
He sure could catch a cold though! A HA H...oh who am I kidding, this is just pathetic.

Re: Taylor Jacobs Traded

With all of these "U" players we should just go ahead and change our team colors to Orange and Green. Geez! Jacobs would not have made the team, so now we get 3 more preseason games to look at this new guy. My gut says that with Moss, Lloyd, and El as locks in the WR position, there are really only 3 or 4 guys battling for a 4th and maybe 5th WR spot. Patten, Thrash, Farris, and Espy are all legit.

Yeah, but what we fail to realize is that by trading a player taken in the second round and a third and fourth pick for three first rounders (one aquired in free agency) the 49ers have us right where they want us...

I love first round picks, we sign 3-5 of them every year!

Wow, didn't see this trade coming at all.

At least we got something for his scrub ass.

Now we can officially kiss the god-awful Spurrier era good-bye once and for all.

Thrash is definitely on the team because of his special teams play. I would give the nod to Patten over Espy because of the contract and Patten is more of a proven commodity. Farris hurt himself by dropping the T.D.

Is Jimoh a Spurrier guy (In no way am I implying that he should go)? I was thinking that Betts was too.

HA, Comcast just reported the trade and rather then show "highlights" of Jacobs they just put up a still frame of him standing around at practice w/o pads.

Yeah but it's something about TJ that just rang Spurrier all the way. He was his boy, yet another Florida reject who was a product of that retarded fun 'n' gun crap. The other guys we have on the roster from that time are at least productive like Betts, Cartwright and Dockery. Jacobs was just a waste.

Re: Taylor Jacobs Traded

Don't forget Thomas and Hall, we got them in the Spurrier/Jets free-for-all and they've worked out well

Since WR spots 1-4 go to Bryant, Arnaz Battle, Bryan Gilmore, and Brandon Williams, the 5th is up for grabs. More power to TJ to make the team.
TJ will show you how good he can be at WR as soon as his fingernail polish dries...

Re: Taylor Jacobs Traded

Kind of an ironic trade I thought that Rumph would be a big time CB coming out he just never materilized, but if anyone remembers he was the player who stuck his arm out last season trying to arm tackle someone caught the players shin or thigh and you could watch his arm snap as it flapped around the players leg on impact.

Bottom line both were going to be released, both have talent, it's really no risk on either party to see if a change in scenery, or coaching can jump start thier carreer's. Better than nothing who know's Williams just might be able to get this guy going.
