Re: Name controversy
if change happened, i still wouldnt let them win, it will be redskins for life.. and i would start making my own shit and keep the rest of my old stuff. "Warriors"??? how gay. Braves would be better, thats what they used to be in the 30's anyway. but i would still call them the redskins no matter the outcome period.

So, in getting with the Political time of the year, we already know LDS (LilDannySnyder for the Uninitiated!) bought and owns the rights to "Warriors". So, he has a back up plan. I don't think it happens, but you never know.

Re: Name controversy
To me, if the name wasn't offensive when it became illegal then it can't just become offensive when a very small minority decide so. It is called common sense and it is the only reason I am sure that someday we will lose this name. Our system has none of it.

Re: Name controversy
First of all, it won't happen.
If it comes close, we can tell the whiny little liberals who don't even WATCH football, "ok, we'll compromise...we'll give up the name 'Redskins' in favor of the 'Pigskinheads'." I'm sure they'll let us keep the name then. I'm still mad that the Bullets gave in and picked a horrible name like the "Wizards". I still support the team, but to me they'll always be the Bullets. It's NOT the team's fault that so many people were firing shots outside the White House (and trying to fly small plane and helicoptors into it) when Clinton was working it there, I mean working in there. |

Re: Name controversy
As another poster mentioned, I think "skins" would work just fine.

Re: Name controversy
I'm sorry, but I have skin, so it offends me.

Re: Name controversy
Most of the names suggested would have the same problem> Warriors and Braves are indian terms and would offend the small % that complains. I saw a show where this lady tried to set up a ralley on a Sunday to protest the Skins name. She put alot of hard work into it and she was the only person who showed up.

Re: Name controversy
I have spoken to Native Americans that are Redskins FANS, so I believe its a small bunch of sad "PC brigade" people who don't get laid enough or have a decent hobby!
Dallas Cowboys - surely in PC-land it should be the "Dallas Cowpeople" or "Dallas Cowpersons", as its anti-women, grown men, etc - heck you can nitpick anything if you try hard enough! For me no matter what it'll be REDSKINS! |

Re: Name controversy
What about all of the animal names? Football is a violent sport, and do we really want to promote violence against animals?

Re: Name controversy
On a recent trip through native american lands in the southwest, I counted nfl logos worn by native americans. Here's the tally:
Redskins 5 Cowboys 1 Other 0 'Nuff said. |

Re: Name controversy
Personally it be like the Giants changing their name to the NY Black Bottoms. It is a borderline slur I always thought they got away with it b/c all the Indians were killed off or are too busy in the casino's. Ive never even met an N.American before. I couldnt imagine if we changed who we were but if we ever do please add some new uniforms.
