Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
I'm not sure why Todd Collins is getting drilled here. Can anyone possibly tell me why he is being singled out when, at least statistically, all of the quarterbacks have played awfully this preseason? Campbell has looked decent, but far from stellar. Moreover, the O-line, wideouts, running backs, etc. have looked pretty weak.
IMHO Todd Collins is being scapegoated. |

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
Here is why I've come down so hard on TC and why I don't think he's being "scapegoated" (is that a word?)...
His numbers are not the issue. Specific plays he has made are nothing short of horror movie stuff. Somebody who has been in the league as long as he has should not be having so many spectacular breakdowns in terms of fundamentals. I'm not sure how anyone could watch the play of all three QBs and think he has compared favorably to the other two.

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
I agree that he has not played well this preseason. But, then again, who has? That is my only point. Have Archuleta, ARE, Lloyd, Carter or any of the other recent additions looked good? No. But it's just the preseason.

Yeah. I'm tired of this Collins guy. Maybe we should start him.

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
I know he pretty much only threw really short passes but Collins looked decent, IMO, last night. I could be way off though, I did leave the game at the start of the 4th.
Really the worst throw he had was the one that got tipped up in the air by the D lineman and Collins had to bat it down like an old lady swatting at a bee.

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
amd, after last night ill bet someone will want collins starting. threw the ball well. had 2 td passes dropped. and generally looked like he knew what he was doing. if i didnt learn anything about the skins this preseason, the one thing i did learn is our backup offensive lineman are terrible

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
collins only looked good against 4th stringers. if anyone wants him starting after that, they should be shot

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
I reserved my final judgement for Collins after he had a line actually protect him.

But like I said, that comparison is flawed. You have to compare him to other QBs. Even after his performance last night (the refs let him get away with a clear INT against UPS drivers), he has performed the worst of the three QBs. I'll go as far as to say, I would take any other teams #2 in exchange for TC and feel like we ripped them off. In other words, if TC is the #2 QB then we will have the very worst #2 QB in the league.

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
Looks like someone already forgot that Jeff George is back in the league.

Re: Do you really wanna see anymore todd collins?
The way I see it everyone has looked bad during these preseason games. The true measure of the players will come from the coaches and what they've seen behind closed doors in practice, which is probably alot different from what we've seen in these meaningless games.
I'm already preparing for the massive freakout once Collins is named the #2. He's definitely the new scapegoat flavor of the month. |
