I agree. Vanderjagt may be a head case but there's still a reason he's the most accurate K in league history.

Do we know anything about Suisham's leg strength?

I could bring up the point that he played more than half of his games in a dome, but I won't.

I don't know exactly how strong his leg is, but as a kickoff specialist, it's safe to assume its the best we've had here in a long time.

You never know. If you can get him cheap, get him. maybe Parcells has got him all pissed off. he does have a rep for screwing with the kickers!

It amazes me the way we sign people at the drop of a hat around here...

He is a cowboys reject, he was with the cowboys when Cundiff got hurt, nothing more than a backup from what i've heard.

signing and cutting kickers cant even be compared to signing and cutting other players, no chemistry required for the kicker and most of the time no big salary

I'm not so sure -- kickers can go from "league's most accurate" to 50-50 on 40-yard field goals pretty quick.

Remember Chip Lohmiller?

I think Vandy needs some time off for a few months. I think a lot of his problems right now are Chuck Knoblauch-esque. Who knows if he'll ever recover from that.

Suisham played some last year and this year for the Cowboys.

He is excellent at KO - guarenteed touchback. He is a young kicker and has his problems with long distance accuracy.

He is Canadian and used to be an enforcer for his Junior B hockey team. I like him and thought the Cowboys could let him grow with them.

Vanderjagt actually has a higher accuracy rate kicking outdoors than he does kicking indoors.

The problem with him is that he just has a lot to say for a kicker. Add to that he has a problem with his form right now. everything is going right on him. He sneaked a 22 yarder in beside the right upright against Tampa.

If he can get his head straight then he might be a steal. He is not good on kickoffs. He got one or two touchbacks for the Cowboys this year. m Usually his kicks land at the 7-13 yard line.

He will try your patience though. He is cocky and arrogant. You can't be a kicker and be cocky and miss field goals. Not for Parcells, and I imagine not for Gibbs.

Yeah you're right. The key is to check him out and see if you can figure out what is the cause of becoming the 50/50 guy. If it's injury, and you think he'll be healthy soon, then it's probably a wise investment. If the injury may nag him, then maybe you stay away. Or if you interview him and he seems to be off the deep end, then maybe you stay away.

But my whole point is you'd have to be retarded not to at least give him a call, a tryout, and an interview. I mean we're calling, interviewing, and trying out lots of kickers who have barely ever kicked in the NFL. Why wouldn't we give Vandy the same look?

I'm not saying sign him right this second. But you have to take a look.

As for the dome argument, Gigity, it's not like Dallas is a real bad-weather or windy environment. He didn't exactly go from Indy to the Meadowlands. He's not missing kicks because of the venue. He's either hurt, not focusing or working hard, or just in a random cold streak.

Thats what happens when you have a kicker thats gone 5 for 13. That just ain't cutting it up here. We need some consistency. Its not like we're signing every guy on the waiver wire.....

If Suisham has that good a leg maybe the skins should sign him and be patient with him. We all still remember how we blew Akers out of town for one miss. Vandy is the better guy for this year maybe but he's also 36 years old and the skins are not exactly in the midst of a super bowl run.

Re: Skins sign kicker Shaun Suisham

It would great if SS turns out to be a young good kicker we could keep until he's 36.

Now THAT would be amazing: Solidify the Kicker an QB for the next 10 years. That's almost un-redskin.
