Vernon Fox... a great surprise

Against the panthers i couldn't help but notice that Fox really did a pretty solid job and for what i saw made Sean Taylor a little bit more comfrontable for what he usually does. Which is make big plays and lay wood on somebody. Maybe just maybe this guy might be a tiny boost this D needs. I love how the D played on Sunday against Steve Smith and the Panthers. I know this season really is lost but I am still interested on how this guy can perform next week. Is anyone else interested in this guy?

He played great but I think there is a good chance that Vincent comes back this week.

Don't annoit Fox yet. They did find him on the scrap heap on August 29th. I am sure he has some weaknesses that haven't been exploited yet.

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

if fox continues to play well id rather see him used at the SS still and use vincent as a nickel back

A couple of weeks ago Vincent was the "spark" this week it's Fox. I'm circling Dec. 10 on my calendar for the Reed Doughty thread

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

i kind of agree. vincent is also 31478 years old and really hasnt done anything since the dallas game. i wonder the same thing about doughty that i wonder about mcintosh. this defense was playing really bad, but yet neither of these guys could get on the field. are they that bad?

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

McIntosh did have that blocked punt against the Panthers, so he must not be that bad. I just think that its GW's stubborness that McIntosh isnt playing yet. Its like GW wants Holdman to be a star so he keeps playing him instead of getting McIntosh the experience.

Just a thought...

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

doughty is a bit slow for an NFL safety, he's more of a backup/special teams type... though if he's a really hard worker he might be a somewhat passable starter...

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

At this point, Doughty is basically Archuletta. A hard hitting safety who excels against the run.

Oh yeah... and he didn't cost 10 million...

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

Fox played well.

Let's see if he can keep playing well.

As far as AA standing next to coaches for the whole game, I am convinced they are dumping him in the offseason (no matter the cap hit) because they refuse to even try to use his strengths.

Re: Vernon Fox... a great surprise

I'm not a big fan of AA, but the secondary did really well against Carolina. Does anyone here think, this is the result of Gray coaching both the cb and the safeties? AA could have been bad to start off but Steve Jackson's coaching must have made him worst. In anycase, Vernon Fox did a really good job.

Whatever they did in preparing for Carolina they should keep it up.
