Re: Portis For Jason Taylor
He's like a 105 years old! Plus they just drafted Ronnie Brown a couple years ago...this couldn't make less sense.

Re: Portis For Jason Taylor
People that prefer Betts over Portis are in the minority.

Re: Portis For Jason Taylor
Well some people in the organization think so they gave Betts a future back type contract and you can't manage those 2 huge salarys in the backfield specially if you add Mosss,Randal-El and Lloyd's huge contracts in the mix.
I just don't get it Portis is 2 years Younger has been a 3 time 1500 yard ruser and before this year his worst year was over 1300 yards yeah he has missed some games every year (except last) do to injury but he's 1 of the top 5 RB in the league and only 26... He was way more productive under Denver system but he was still huge with you guys. Betts i's no where close Portis league. |

Re: Portis For Jason Taylor
I think we need both of them badly if we are planning to run the ball 35 times a game next year like gibbs anticipates. Especially since they both know the saunders blocking schemes now.

Re: Portis For Jason Taylor
This thread epitomizes the problems with the football fan as well as the football analyst/reporter. Now where I believe within my heart, or I am trying to believe that this thread was created as a joke. Maybe one of those "what if's" that pop up in your head when you've smoked a J full of the finest grade hydroponics this side of The Rocky Mountains. Because I am a Redskin fan therefore it is my duty to watch them every time that they are on television, I have been forced to listen to the likes of Bill Maas and Brian Baldinger. These gentelmen as well as many sportstalk shows where callers and the hosts alike all of a sudden feel like Clinton Portis is no longer usefull to the Washington Redskins because Betts is having a good year. For one the offensive line is blocking a hell of a lot better than they were when Clinton was playing. The holes that Betts has to go through are like Vanessa Del Rio's snatch where Clinton's were like hair folicles. Now I know that the analogy was a bit off base but after the Del Rio line I couldn't think of anything else but it was effin funny to me ! Also, when Betts gets to the second level he's often caught from behind. I wonder what Clinton's yard per carry would be had he had the same running room. Now I know that the circumstances may have not been the same but I'm just putting Clinton in the same position as Betts had. I feel Ladell is important to the team but so is Portis. He's an excellent pass blocker and also a great team guy in my opinion. His comments about how the team should have held on to guys like Robert Royal and Ryan Clark earlier in the season because it's good for the team were the type that I liked to hear. He didn't say to get rid of these guys but to hold onto them because they were the glue that held the team together. Most of us agree with that statement, fans and analysts alike however, after Portis made his comments about such issues on 980 you have Brian " I'm STILL Mad The Skins Cut Me " Mitchell says that Clinton should go. He says how the team should have Captains and that the coaches need to get on the same page and he's a problem ? These are the same things that you read about in your local papers daily but when Portis says it, he needs to go ? I find it rather funny because if the Redskins were to get rid of Portis that would be the main selling point of Skins gossip, how Dan Snyder messed up and got rid of the best player the team had. Classic ! Purely Classic.
Anyway, I haven't had the time to go over everything that I said but I hope that it all makes sense. It's just funny how we all ask for continuity with the team yet we are guilty of just what we say this organization is. Impatient, continually searching for the new thing. I know Betts isn't the new thing but you should stick to what you have. You have a top 10 running back in the league and another running back who learned how to run effectively this season. Would I trade Clinton portis ? Not unless a monster deal came to me, kinda like the Hershel Walker trade or the 4 for 1 draft pick trade Casserly pulled off. Besides that, that man is a Redskin for a while. Resign Big Dockery, hold on to the guys that you have, Arch or lloyd may be leaving but for the most part keep your team together. And for the love of all that's well and good, try not to get swept so that I have to hear crap all summer. It blows, unfortunately i don't have millions of dollars to take a bath in to get over it. I happen to blow my hundreds on the team yearly. I know, hundreds ? That's alot of bread. I know it isn't but i've got bills to pay. My Redskins budget has to stop somewhere ! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS !!!!!!
