Laveranues Coles and Matt Bowen are both excellent examples of players the Skins have picked up as RFA's, and had to compensate their prior teams with draft choices.
Dude you're totally not even on the same page. They are not talking about teams signing free agents and awarding compensatory picks to their former teams. They are talking about compensatory picks awarded by the league under a formula. This discussion has nothing to do with RFAs since they do not have anything to do with the compensatory draft pick formula which the league administers.

Just to be clear Soup, this is what we are talking about

Section 2. Number of Choices and Eligibility:
(a) The Draft shall consist of seven rounds, with each round consisting of the same number of selection choices as there will be Clubs in the NFL the following League Year, plus a maximum number of additional Compensatory Draft Selections equal to the number of Clubs then in the League, with such Compensatory Draft Selections reserved for Clubs losing certain Unrestricted Free Agents. Each Draft shall be held between February 14 and May 2, on a date which shall be determined by the Commissioner.

yes we could get a pick or should get one. Of course since were not Philly or NE we probably will get a 7th rounder instead of a 3rd

the eagles get a bunch because they don't sign outside FAs, they only lose their own guys to FA. when you lose a guy but bring in 2 more, you're not going to get anything worth having from the comp pick committee. don't expect anything.

Thanks for setting me straight. The one phrase in bold above that seems to imply that black magic is used: with such Compensatory Draft Selections reserved for Clubs losing certain Unrestricted Free Agents.

Certain Unrestricted Free Agents? Which ones count for conpensatory picks and which ones don't? Sounds like fuzzy logic to me.

it is fuzzy. decided by a closed door committee. generally it's starters won/lost, contract values, and if they get injured next year.
