I guess a Briggs deal would be like putting up a gate in front of the hallway then.

Andre Carter is not the youngest defensive lineman, btw. Unless Golston and Montgomery are getting cut, we should see a lot more of them in the rotation this year. Regardless, we still need an infusion of youth along that line, maybe it's not imperative for the 2007 season but we are going to be hurting a lot sooner than later. In the next 2-3 years time we're probably losing Griffin, Daniels, Wynn, Salave'a due to age , money or health. The carry-overs would be Carter, Golston, Montgomery and Evans...{whimper}...
Well, as stated before, the draft isn't going to give us much help regarding 2007. But if we DONT make the pick now, come 2008, we still won't be getting any return on investment from anyone but potentially Carter. It is imperative that we get a young DL guy into the "Farm system" so that come 2008, we have a 2nd year guy ready to step into the role.

I see this as a must have.

Not to beat a dead horse, but what happens if ST goes down? More reason to like the LL pick even though there's no way we'll do it.

So we should draft this guy in case Sean Taylor gets hurt?

That makes sense. Somone get on the burgundy "Gibbs phone" so we can let him in on the brilliance of that move.

Re: Should the Redskins consider LSU Safety Laron Landry with the 6th overall pick

All I am saying is that should Taylor go down our starting safties would look something like PP (if he's recovered) and Omar or Fox.

We should actually draft LL because he'd most likely be the best football player available at six, and because it would be good to see him play with Sean. If we don't upgrade the saftey spot it leaves us with suprisingly little depth at that position. Image if Moss goes down. We'd be starting BL and ARE. Imagine if Griff goes down. Imagine if Samuels goes down. It's not as if saftey is the only position on the team where one player going down could have a dramatic impact on the caliber of the entire unit. That's what happens when your team has no depth.

If we're picking at six, LL is the pick. If we trade down we can address the depth issues we have across the board. With that said, please trade down and get at least fair value, or grow some balls and pick the best defensive player in the draft regardless of postion.

I agree. Branch or Okeye is looking to be our best option. There is a lot of talk about Anderson but, I LOVE OKEYE. It's been stated but he's 19 and he cant only get better. No LL.

Take Branch.
Or.
Take Okeye.

Please. For my sake Danny-boy.

drop 2-8 spots and take okoye, carriker, or adams (if convinced he'll hit the weight room).

No, get Branch or Okeye for god's sake. We have been deficient at D line for far too long. Haven't had anything close to a good D line since Big Daddy and Stubblefield first came on the scene and even that didn't last too long!!! There will be nice options at DB left for us both in the draft and June 1 for sure.

Yeah, what happens if Griff goes down? What happens if Salave'a gets nicked up? Wait! That already happened last year, and we ranked #27 against the run.

Do nothing and HOPE they stay healthy and we'll be worse against the run. Then LL can show us what a great tackler he is in the secondary.

Branch or Okoye definately would look good in a Redskins uniform, even better if they were picked up around the tenth spot. I too am very bored at watching our D-Line go to work, they're in pretty bad shape.

Landry is a nice pick and nobody could say he was a bad selection.

However, I believe that we've already addressed our secondary with; Rogers and Taylor as starters, the 2 other starting positions will be figured out by the performance of; Springs moving to Free Safety and Smoot regaining form and starting at the other CB.
We also have or signed...
Macklin, Prioleau (back from injury), Fox (started at S last season), Stoutmire, Jimoh, and Doughty. Some pretty nice depth, Nickle and dime packages.

How about the O line (departure of Dockery)
Resigning Wade was critical (I believe) this is an improvement over Dockery.
Nice depth and options come from signing Fabini and Tucker.

Linebackers;
The signing of Fletcher will solve this issue who will start at MLB. Washington and McIntosh will start at OLB.
Marshall is great depth and package assistance.

TE; Yoder resigned. we're set.
WR; how can anybody think this is a position of need???
RB; perfect harmony, set.
QB: set, maybe, maybe, maybe a late round hopeful or undrafted FA to hold the clipboard and develop.
FB, H back; perfectly ready.
K/P; resigned Frost! Maybe.... Carney from New Orleans comes into push SqueezHam
KR; set.

The only thing we need is bodies in camp to hold things...
and DEFENSIVE LINEMAN....

Let's DRAFT, TRADE, SIGN UNDRAFTED FA, STEAL, BORROW or CHEAT to get Defensive Lineman into Redskin Uniforms... THIS SHOULD BE OUR FOCUS AND GOAL!!!
