How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
I think with the progress of JC and Co., and a year in this offense we should be able to produce at LEAST 20 points on any given gameday.
Thoughts?

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
I think that if a team can put up say 25 points per game that team should win most of their games. I mean when a team only scores 7-14 points a game they have to rely way to much on the D every possesion. The skins need to be able to produce on Offense so that they don;t have to lean on the Defense every opposing possesion.
With what the skins have and my high hopes I think they will have a season average of 24 points per game. |

Let me do some math first!
17 + 26 + 46 + 89 + 82 + 47 = 307???

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
I agree with these numbers.
However, I think it's a rollercoaster. I could see us putting up 35 one week and 13 the next. Not a juggernaut, but dangerous depending upon our opponent, especially their cover guys. I think we can run on most teams but I'm not sure can pass on most teams. This is more a knock against the receivers than it is against Campbell. We need Randle-El or LLoyd or a surprise player to catch 40 balls. 40 big balls.

Last season we averaged 19.1875 ppg. I think because this is the 2nd year in the offense with the same QB, ppg should be a bit higher. Atleast 22-23 ish.

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
The main problem that the skins will have next season is that the NFC East teams will have stout defenses. On top of that, our out of conference and out of division games could be tough defenses too, namely Miami, NE, Chicago, and possibly Tampa Bay. We will have some so called easy defenses to play against in Detroit, GB, Arizona, and Minnesota. IMO the toss-ups are Buffalo and the Jets, who could have tuff defenses depending on how the season plays out. If it weren't for the tough D's we will face that may bring down our average I would have said upper 20's per game. Bottom line I say 24ppg...
On another note, i didn't know where to post this but for those of you who enjoy washington sports, see if u remember this ol' song. I used to love going to Bullets games in the old US Air Arena and hearing this gem. It puts the superbowl shuffle to shame. Now THIS was another franchise who had a horrible FO that overpaid players (juwan howard, gugliotta, etc) and traded away talent. After getting ernie grunfeld though they have turned it around. Funny what a good GM can do to a team: YouTube - You the Man Enjoy!

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
In Kansas City, Saunders offense averaged 30.2 pts/game in both 2003 and 2004 while in 2005, his offense averaged 25.2 pts/game. He averaged 393, 418, and 387 yds/game in 2003, 2004, and 2005 respectfully. Even in 2005 (what looks like his off year), his offense was ranked 6th in the league in pts/game but 1st in yds/game.
Before people start talking about all the talent he had to work with, please note that in 2006, without Saunders, Kansas City dropped to 16th in the league in total offense with 321 yds/game (Note: Washington was 13th), and 15th in the league in scoring (Washington was 20th). There are also some good numbers to look at in Saunders bio. I'm sure people know how to find this, but it's a good read if you haven't seen it in a while. It gets me excited. http://www.redskins.com/team/cprofile.jsp?id=15156 With this in mind, I'm going with between 25 and 30 pts/game for the skins this year.

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
I think an average of 25 points sounds reasonable.

Nice piece of homework there.....GoSkins If we do end up putting those kind of numbers up every week, we will easily win 10 or BETTER games.

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
Funny this post comes up now. Good job GoSkins with the info. I say funny because I was just trying to compare KC's first year with our first year on Fri. and looking at KC's second yr to have a better idea of what to expect this yr from the skins. KC's first yr was in 01 compared to our Skin's in 06:
KC01(GREEN)CMP:296/SKINS(BRUNELL)CMP:162(JC)CMP:110. The two QB's for the Skins combined for 272 CMP. Close numbers. KC01(GREEN)ATT:523/SKINS(BRUNELL)ATT:260(JC)ATT:207. Again close numbers combined 467. KC01(GREEN)YDS:3783/SKINS(BRUNELL)YDS:1789(JC)YDS:1297.Skins combined for 3036 yes 700 yds is a big difference. In 01 Green had a % rate of 56.6. Brunell had a % rate of 62.3 and JC's % rate was 53.1. 01Green had 17 TD's. Brunell had 8 and JC had 10 total 18. 01Green had 24 INT. Brunell had 4 and JC had 6 totaling 10. Now in 02Green went down in CMP to 287, ATT:470,YDS:3690, % rate went up to 61.1, TD's:26,with only 13 INT's. I found this interesting because the numbers were somewhat close and in 02 knowing the offense better Green almost doubled his TD's for the year and dropped the INT's to about half. |

Re: How many points do we think this offense will put up every Sunday?
Ok now looking at Rushing yrds. 01Holms had 327 Rushes for 1555 AVG 4.8 with 1 TD. 06Betts had 245 Rushes for 1154 AVG 4.7 and 4 TD's. Portis had 127 Rushes for 523 AVG 4.1 and 7 TD's. both Skins totaled 370 Rushes for Holms 327. 1677 yds compared to Holms 1555. and 11 TD's compared to Holmes 1.
Now alot played into that. The first yr KC passed more then ran and Holms was not given the ball to puch into the endzone. Saunders felt he was to small and used nother RB for that. We might have had more but we used alot of other personel for Rushing like QB's, TE's and WR's. 02Holms had 313 Rushes for 1615 yds for an AVG 5.2 and 21 TD's. He was more efficient his second yr better yrd for less rushes. This equalled more TD's. |
