Coaching Reveals Talent
Take a good look at what a good coach can do for player's, Greg William's has come in and tranformed carrer's over night, case and point, Antonio Pierce, a lot of us have been high on the guy, and couldn't figure out why he could't play his way into the lineup, I will make a prediction, Pierce will be the leader of the #1 defense in the league at year's end. How bout Lott? Iffy is gone, and Lott is starting and doing a very good job so far, Bowen had a monster game, and I know some of you wanted him OUT OF HERE, before yesterday's game, [ wait that might have been me ] Our D-line was the biggest question mark we had, and guess what, they probably played the best game of any of our units, there was no where to run. Coaching has as much to do with a player's production, as does his talent.

I've got a really good feeling about Pierce as well. he's been here for a few years and his ability to pick up new schemes has really shown his football intellect. I know we brought Barrow here as a proven veteran, but I think Pierce will be our future D quarterback (if not this year, then next year).

I never liked Pierce but he has really started to show me something. I do think he will eventually start for us but I also believe that when Barrow is healthy he will be right back in the starting line up. Similar to the Brunell/Ramsey situation if Brunell was to go down as soon as the veteran leader is back they will play, but I could see both Ramsey and Pierce doing some damage in the future. Bowen is another player I did not like. I still think he will get burned but he does work good with Williams' packages.

Pierce played very well in his rookie season, he was sort of lost in the shuffle the past couple of seasons.
As for Bowen, wow, what else can I say?! The guy was a monster yesterday. I guess somebody knew what they were doing when they kept him around instead of Iffy, huh?! LOL |

We're the number one defense in the league right now. I can't say anything bad about Williams or the defense. Gibbs said in his introductory press conference that defense and special teams win games. I like that philosophy and Gibbs, Williams, and the entire team deserve credit for that great defensive debut.

Being a 'Skins fan in Chicago, I couldn't see the game, although I did enjoy watching my other favorite team the 'Vikings' take the Cowboys to the cleaners. In any event, isn't Sean Taylor the starting saftey? I listened to much of the game via NFL radio on my PC. Is Sean hurt or something?

#1 defense, while New England is only above the Giants and Arizona.

I heard he missed it because he was sick. Not because he was just skipping it. He was just too sick to attend and the team felt there was too much discussed at the meeting for him to be able to play that first drive. The meeting was essentially about the tone they wanted to set on the first drive

About Bowen. I thought they he was looking pretty average in the preseason and might be on his way out. Now I understand what they see in him. Not a great cover guy, but a guy that they can send after the QB and get there, a solid tackler, and an adequate coverage guy who works his tail off.
Guess what.... we have another guy named Taylor that is going to be able to sneak in to the offensive backfield easier this season because hey have won't know which safety is really coming on the blitz... A QB nightmare!!! |

I was a Bowen hater but finally I saw something in him and I saw him make hits in a game that were significant. Williams put him in a postiion to do what he does best. Williamss is a good coach. Congrats Matt Bowen on your player of the game award. i like the rotating safeties to match personnel groups. I enjoyed the game and now i can shut up and learn more aobut the game from Gibbs , Williams and company. I know its early but I felt magic watching the game against the bucs.
