Yep, as Parcells says you are what your record says you are. Simple but true.

The OLine is the engine of this machine. When it starts breaking down it doesn't matter how good anyone else is because you simply can't operate with every play breaking down in a rushed jailhouse break. Our OLine is broken right now. If you want to attack depth I can that argument way more but don't attack the philosophy because we are cornered.
Yup. My sentiments exactly. Good posts throughout, FRPLG.

And still, I think we're not that far off, if Rabach gets healthy. We need to pick up 3rd downs, obviously--but we're getting to 3rd and short a lot, and that's a good sign. A second more to throw (that's actually a lot!) or a 1 yard more push from the line, and we get a fresh set of downs. The next play is often the best for playaction--the D is stacked against the run (Gibbs loves to run, etc. etc.), you get good matchups for Cooley or the backs out of the backfield, and you at times get single coverage on the WRs. WE NEVER GOT INTO THAT SITUATION YESTERDAY. A few first downs on those 3rd and shorts, and the playbook opens up. We failed to convert--injuries, execution, and playcalling failed us there. But we're not that far off, IMO.

And we have a great D. And WE WON ANYWAY!

I'm not sure what everyone wants with half of the O line out and a new QB a win is a win.

people want the redskins to play to their potential. Campbell is a better QB than warner right now

And no, I never expected us to be on the level of the Patriots.
You actually nailed it, Beemnseven. This whole thing about the offensive line being banged, while true, I really don't think we'd see much different to be honest.

That being said, I think the Pats are going to face their toughest oppenent yet, and I can't wait for the Skins to come home 5-2!!

You are correct, sir. In my way to work, I was listenning to Doc Walker on SportsTalk 980. He was saying how sick he is of the team using the O-line as an excuse for being sloppy. Yes, the line is not what they envisioned it to be in the preseason, but you can't just simply give up. I mean the Titans and Panthers won with back-up QBs. Good teams don't just throw in the towel because players get hurt.

Who threw in the towel? They effing won.

And if Doc Walker thinks that having 60% of your starting linemen injured is not a legitimate reason for a hindered offensive gameplan, he has no business analyzing football. Of course O line injuries have no effect on dropped balls and fumbles, but it has a major impact on pass protection and running lanes.

Isn't Pucillo a tight end most of the time...we didn't play so bad considering. Anyway....back to work, just wanted to get a post in this week...HAIL, and here's to the "any given sunday" factor against the patriots

Re: Why all the complaining?

I have no problem with complaints about the team, provided they are reasonable. Unfortunately, I have been seeing a lot of "the sky is falling," "the end is near," "4-2 is actually a losing record" posts lately that IMO aren't very reasonable.

I think it has a lot to do with most fans' preference for strong offenses versus strong defenses, even though most great teams have stronger defenses than offenses. If our offense was putting up 35 points people would be happy even if our defense was allowing 30 points. The fact is, however, that a football team is made up of two units. Right now, our offense is struggling but our defense is playing lights out.

Who cares if we are winning games by narrow margins? Who cares if our defense is doing really well but our offense is struggling? People used to say, all that matters is our record. I don't hear people saying that anymore. For me, the bottom line is the bottom line. We are 4-2 and I am happy. My tune will change if we plummet to 4-6, but I'm not going to freak out so long as we have a winning record. And I will remain estatic so long as we are winning 2 games for every 1 game we lose.

Re: Why all the complaining?

And the other half is content with mediocrity.

Seriously 364 total yards for the Cards to 160 total yards for the Skins...

Once again, thrilled that we were able to hang on some how and get to 4-2, but not happy with what I've seen on the offensive side of the ball...injuries or not.

If our crystal ball back in August said we were going to start the season 4-2 I don't think there would be one single complaint. Well, we're 4-2 so what's the problem? Even with a severely depleted OL and a young QB we've managed to win 4 of 6. Yet all some people can focus on is this retarded play calling debate, like calling more shotguns is the answer to our woes. Gimme a break.
