There is no question. IF this same situation happened with Brandon Lloyd, as much of a doghouse resident as he is, this would still not happen...

No matter where you work, there's always comp time for this. I'm in the Marines and was on the other side of the world when my grandfather passed away, they had me on a flight in less than 8 hours.
Agreed, they probably should do something. What a lack of compassion in that organization.

Happy birthday Marine

Re: Vikings' Troy Williamson Grieves Loss of Grandmother, Gets Denied Paycheck

"I don't care if they would have [taken] my pay for the rest of the year, I was going home," Williamson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "It wouldn't have mattered to me."

At least Troy Williamson has his priorities in order. I've never been a fan of the guy, and obviously he has been a huge disappointment, but you've got to be there for your family. If the Vikings feel like they have to recover $25,000 and that will really help their team then more power to them. Newsflash, football isn't life and death, if you have to help plan a funeral, support your family, arrange travel for siblings, and grieve then maybe you can miss a game. I hope they get taken to task by every media outlet...can someone nominate them for Keith Olberman's "Worst Person in the NFL"?

What a fantastic display of leadership. Who wouldn't want work for commandant Childress?

Re: Vikings' Troy Williamson Grieves Loss of Grandmother, Gets Denied Paycheck

Most companies have a bereavement policy that allows for a specific amount of time off with pay to take care of such things. You'd think the NFLPA would have something in place for such occasions...if they don't, I bet they do for the next CBA.

It's one thing if it's his mother's aunt who he met twice in his life, and hasn't seen in years. This was the woman who helped raise him, and considering he had to make the arrangements, something we're not sure Williams or Wayne had to do, it's pretty shitty to dock him a week's worth of pay, no matter how well he's doing this year. If you have an issue with his performance, cut him.

And, what's the deal with citing Reggie Wayne? He doesn't play for the Vikings, and has no relevance to the situation. That's complete BS right there. I hope the NFLPA files a grievance on Williamson's behalf, and that this is overturned.

Well, you know, after the Love Boat, they had to lay down THE LAW!

Good work, Vikes. This is about as sure a piece of evidence as you can get that they're the same old weak sauce organization they always were, and Peterson's entire career will be wasted there.

Let's hope not regarding Peterson. Maybe one day we can pull a reverse herschel walker trade for him to get him out of minny... lol. I'M NOT SERIOUS.

I think the team could have worked something out with him. And it's especially ridiculous for Major Dad (that's my nickname for Childress: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/image...20headshot.jpg http://www.jsonline.com/graphics/pac...an06/bc102.jpg) to basically say "Well, these guys played..."
This is appalling. If I were in his position, and knew I could get on with another team, I would quit immediately. I would schedule a meeting with the owner and the coach, and tell them how I think they are worthless, inconsiderate pieces of shit. I'd say that it's against my principles to work for sub-human pieces of shit.

@SS: I never noticed, but he REALLY does look like Major Dad. Major Dad would have NEVER done such a thing!

What I don't understand is why Brad C. would use Wayne and Williams as examples? Is Williamson suppose to do what everyone else is suppose to do ( in the NFL) when a death occurs to a family member? What a pure 100% asshole.

Re: Vikings' Troy Williamson Grieves Loss of Grandmother, Gets Denied Paycheck

I'm not to trying to justify anything the team did but knowing that the grandson plays in the NFL, why did the family and funeral director plan things on a gameday?

I'm not trying to be heartless it just seems to me a little better planning was in order. Isn't the funeral director paid to make these decisions for a grieving family.

That being said the Vikings should pay the man.

They gave him his check back. Me thinks the Vikings got a massive amount of heat for that stupid move.

ESPN - Vikings change mind, give Williamson check back - NFL

THe league is a bunch of morons who go for this type of crap. Goodell is probably cheering the Vikes on this one. NFL is starting to suck.
