Re: Its time for joe to step down.
This from the Tuesday Morning Quarterback today.
Stat of the Week No. 8: Since his return to the NFL, Joe Gibbs is only 17-13 when the Redskins lead at halftime. Joe is really putting teams away isn't he! |

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
I was flicking from sports station to sports station this morning and tuned in to Richard Justice's show in houston,he used to be a beat writer for the post, and right when i tuned into it he was saying I feel sorry for this guy,he should step down, the game has passed him bye, etc.I didnt know who he was talking about but as he kept talking I soon realized it was about Gibbs. He went on to say how he loves Gibbs, never met a better person in sports, the most competitive person he's ever met.He said back when he was covering the skins in Joes first go round a player made fun of his raquetball skills and said he could whip his ass,so Joe started getting up at 4am{after not going to bed till 2am}and started going to the court and practicing and ended up whipping the guys ass{Walter Stanley}I,like Richard Justice, have much respect and love for Gibbs, but I have to agree with Justice on the game passing him bye stuff

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
Didn't everyone say the game passed him by in 2005?

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
I think this discussion is needed to be made after the season. To have this discussion about Gibbs is really conceding that the season is over.
I don't want to think about Gibbs stepping down right now, but what I do think is - he needs to start stepping up and get this team going. He needs to get the team's energy and emotion up for the next game and keep it up for the rest of the season. And he needs to prepare better - game clock, game situations, possible injuries, and in-game strategic adjustments (this applies to Saunders and Williams too). Sometimes I don't understand that there are these problems and that he has a reputation for putting in long hours to prepare for the games. |

I don't believe the game has passed Gibbs by. With the rash of injuries in the defensive secondary, I hope that Gibbs has the faith to trust Jason Campbell to carry a heavier load. If the gameplan against Philly was any indication, he's moving in that direction. |

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
If one more person brings up 05 I'm simply going to puke. We went 10-6 and beat some shitty teams to get in the playoffs. By the end of 05 the offense was so bad it wasn't even funny. We couldn't even get 1st downs in the playoffs and it was the defense that won the TB game. How many teams can win a playoff game with 40 yards passing? That is why Sanders has a job here. Cause the offense sucked at the end of 05. I get so tired of people going back to 05. We didn't make the Super Bowl, we made the divisional round. That use to be standard around here.

And, I know this is nitpicky, but...Saunders. I know it's not a big deal but it irks me that you always spell it Sanders. I have this thing where I feel like fans of the Redskins should correctly spell out the names of at least their top players and coaches.

This paragraph isn't directed at you or anyone else in particular skinsfan69, but I'm seriously starting to wonder whether the hater-aid drinkers really believe everything that they are saying or are merely overstating things in an attempt to balance out the kool-aid drinkers. IMO, two wrongs don't make a right. Some people have a warped perception of reality, but that doesn't give the rest of us free license to similarly warp reality in counteract "the other guys." |

So if you're going to piss and moan about people bringing up '05, why are you going to bring up 1985? And anyways, yes it was a standard around here because of Joe Gibbs. None of us want to see the status quo, but I believe all of us would rather see the Redskins in the playoffs regardless as to how they got there, than to see them miss the playoffs. I can't see any true Redskins fan no agreeing with that.

Re: Its time for joe to step down.
you know what? every single headcoach can be 2nd guessed about alot of things. And Im not saying Gibbs & Co. dont deserve their share, but it comes down to the players executing the plays. Period. Say all you want about how this shouldve been called, why this and f that and so on. Bottom line is, as pissed as I get watching the games sometimes, Gibbs leaving is NOT the answer to our problems, it will only make them worse, alot worse. So enough with the nonsense. If it was up to me, you start docking players not executing their assignment
ALOT of money each and every time. |
