Defense still shining.
Overall defense: 3rd
Pass defense: 5th Rush defense: 2nd Wow. Can't believe we can't win games with that alone! I hope we hide Greg Williams in the basement of Fedex so no one can hire him! |

Williams' basically said that he likes being a coordinator better than a HC. He has done an excellent job, so we'll see if this changes when the GMs come calling this offseason.

He's also very well paid, more so than alot of head coaches, I think it would take alot to pry him away.

I can't believe I haven't read one thread discussing the special teams and there poor tackling on the Sams return. We have spent a lot of time talking about Portis and Brunell that I guess it wasn't an issue. However, it is a serious issue that has reared it's ugly head for the second week in a row. There was almost a return in the Cleveland game too. Let me hear your comments.

I hink Williams is going to stick around for two reasons. One he has the bitter taste of being run out of Buffalo after not doing that bad a job really . Alot of HC don't want to go through that again in a hurry, I meen look at Ray Rhodes who activly avoids HC jobs after Philly.
Secondly if he wants a HC possition in a few years he may as well stick it out in Washington. Gibbs is not going to be here forever and however long he is Williamscan learn from him. Previous DC have been run or lured out of town by changes in HC, Rhodes was run out by Shottenhimer, Kurt Shottenhimer was kind of run out by Spurrier, Lewis was going to take any HC job that came his way and Nolan and the Spurrier DC whos name escapes me were disposed of because they simply stunk the place up |

Williams has been awesome this season. If we don't have him this year I think we might be 0-5. That said IMO as soon as JG gets the offense going and if we don't have any more injuries on D, I think we end the season as one of the better teams in the league. It might be wishful thinking but, the way our defense is playing if we just average twenty points a game, it would equate to more time of possesion. That would leave our D nice and fresh ready to finish teams in the 4th quarter.

Thanks SMOOTSMACK, it's been tough these past few years, but I believe that with this coaching staff things are going in the right direction. Our team despite all the problems on offense seem more united than i've seen them in a long time. Gibbs has way to much passion for our team to let them be mediocre. Williams is coaching his ass off I mean who would have guessed that almost every player on D is playing above their heads. How many do you think will make the pro-bowl? It's only a matter of time til our offense starts scoring TD's instead of field goals. I'm putting my money on gibbs that it will happen this year. Let's be patient maybe the playoffs are out of reach, although I believe the foundation for a 4th trophy is being layed.

the problem with the pro bowl is our defense spreads the work around pretty evenly, everyone looks good, no one looks dominant...
arrington is a bit of a shoe-in, i wouldn't be suprised to see washington or springs there either... smoot has an outside shot too, as does sean taylor, but only if he can turn into ed reed asap, otherwise it'll be next year for him i think bowen may have even had a shot the way he was playing, but the turf gremlins have been very very upset with the NFL gods this year... i've never seen so many people curl over in the open field like they have this year. anyways, i'm hoping for ramsey to come in a start up the offense, or brunell to 180 in the next 4 days... |

Hopefully Greg Williams will stay a few years, long enough to get a shot at our HC position once Gibbs retires. This guy brings it every game. You gotta love watching a defense like this.

Amen!
I love watching a good D. 4th Ring brings up a great point we have been trying to stress to the dissapointed Redskins fans on the The Warpath. I think we have a ton of angry redskin fans that expected Gibbs to walk in and make this team instantly a playoff team. I can't believe some of the shit I have read the last few weeks. I have stayed away because I am not going to try and reason with such negative talk. I actually read where someone said we were better off with Spurrier. LOL Our record may not show it, but we are playing a much more sound and disciplined football. I think the negative fans that are angry at Gibbs have a real short memory about last year. So far the Skins have only lost by small margins: 2004 W 16 - 10 L 14 - 20 L 18 - 21 L 13 - 17 L 10 - 17 But in 2003 we had some real ugly games: L 13-35 to Tampa Bay on Oct. 12th L 7-24 to Buffalo on Oct. 19th L 0-27 to F-ing DALLAS on Dec. 14th L 7-31 to Philly on Dec. 27th Just thought I would remind some that last year was much worse, especially the coaching, schemes and play. |
