Sorry folks but gambling is not something to be done with one's heart. Gambling is done with one's brain. So if betting against the Skins makes monetary sense, I'll do it in a heartbeat. But iof it makes no sense, I'll pass on the game.
There's gambling and there's investing. When you find a rabid fan of any team, you can wager with him/her on games involving the "favorite team" and make significant money over the long run. Reason is, they will bet with their hearts. Back in the early 60s, the Packers were dominant under Lombardi and the Philly Eagles were doormats. (They had already traded Jurgensen here and couldn't get out of their own way.) A classmate of mine in college was convinced that his darling Eagles were going to cream the Packers in a game. The Vegas line was Packers - 13.5. If you don't follow NFL betting lines, that is a HUGE number! My classmate while perfectly sober got so into his reasoning about how the Eagles would clobber the Packers that he wound up betting me $20 (big money for college students in the 60's when draft beers were 25 cents every day of the week) and he gave me the Packlers PLUS 10 points. I don't care who you root for or against, that's a bet you have to take. Final score: Packers" 49 Eagles: Zero Betting for or against any team and rooting for or against any team are different things. It isn't all that hard to do both and keep them separate...

Unless I read it wrong I thought saden was saying that even though he's the most hardcore fan here (his opinion, not mine) that he would like for the Packers to beat the Skins so he can collect $1,000..and presumably spend it on his hardcoreness

Matty has told me, off the record, that if you donate even half of your winnings to this site he's agreed to consider changing the official name of the site to "Saden1 presents theWarpath.net brought to you by Saden1"

SC points out that intellegently betting against your team is smart, and I agree. But, wouldn't "the most hardcore fan" likely bet with their heart, wrong as it may be? I think so.
That said, there is absolutely no sense in fighting over who is a bigger fan....we're all big Skins fans. Let's leave it at that. |

If you said " you can have a million dollars right now, or the Redskins would win the Superbowl" I'd take the ladder. Money can only take you so far, I've been waiting my whole life and still waiting to know how it feels to watch them win one.
