We Should draft Jordy Nelson - Kansas State WR in the 3rd

Well maybe we could, but history tells us that most of the elite top tier interior lineman are found in the first round, while other come from the second. By the way it took Dockery about 2 or 3 years to come on, so if we do draft an O-lineman one the second day then theres a good chance that we would have to wait a few years for him to develop. Albert will only take a year to develop since we'll have to get his strength up to par, in order to make him an elite Guard.

Besides I don't understand the disdain towards Albert. If we take him in the 1st round then theres a good chance that we could take your boy Jordy in the second or third. Look we've drafted Offensive lineman during the Gibbs era in the 5th or 6th round like you've suggested and now those guys are off the team.

Given how we've struggled for years with injuries along the O-line and that none of our starting O-linemen are in their 20s, I'm quite surprised that anyone would oppose drafting an O-lineman in the 1st round. Do we need an impact #1 wideout? Sure, but I wouldn't expect to find a WR with the 21st pick who will be an immediate, impact player. Do we need a CB? Sure, but we have Springs, Smoot, and Rogers on the roster. IMO, our most pressing need is along the line.

Don't worry, when our running game returns to the 1337 level then people will be more then pleased with us drafting Brandon Albert. Plus with Albert and Heyer we'll have our pair of bookends set for possibly the next decade. Plus as I said before, if we draft Albert in the first then the chances of us taking Jordy in the 2nd or 3rd increase. Personally I would love to see a draft with Albert in the first, Jordy in the Second, and Dre Moore in the third, however Moore might not last that long.

I don't think people realize that we have a better group of Recievers then most teams in the NFL. This desire for a playmaker at Reciever is way off base to me. People see what Randy Moss did last year and think "WOW I WANT THAT" Usually teams that are looking for "the answer" at Wide Reciever go through a lot of trouble to find that guy. And in some cases it means poor Quarterback play. Which to me isn't much of an issue with Zorn tutoring Campbell. I mean the names Branch and Burleson don't exaclty strike fear into the hearts of defenses but the Seahawks have one of the NFL's best passing attacks.

Conversly the Cardinals have two of the games best recievers and still can't get past 8-8. And ironically people have been blaming the Cardinals lack of success due to poor O-Line play, of course thats changing as of late with Grimm there but still.

there's nothing wrong with going OL in the first, but the hardest two positions to fill are franchise QB and elite pass rushing DE. If harvey or merling (or DRC) are there, i'd lean towards them first, since DL is deep this draft and there always seem to be starting NFL guards around the 20-30th picks every year.

I do feel that a true shutdown CB is the hardest thing to find because they are even more uncommon than a franchise QB, even if they do not have as strong an impact on the outcome of games. Champ, Nnamdi, and maybe Nate Clements are the only shutdown CBs in the NFL (Cromartie has a chance if he continues to develop). Samuel, Tillman, Winfield, Springs, Trufant, Ronde Barber, Newman, Leigh Bodden, McAllister, and Rasheen Mathis are all guys I'd want on my team, but I can't say any of them are really lockdown type players, and that makes a difference.

Finding a complete DE is really difficult (Jared Allen, Aaron Kampman may be the only two), but it's not so hard to find an elite pass rusher if you are willing to skimp on size. Of course, taking Merling isn't skimping on size, but Harvey definately is.

Jordy is a player. I had season tickets to Kansas State last year and got to see him live for six of their games. I would be very pleased if the Skins happened to pick him up.

Thats why its going to be an akward situatuion for the redskins in the second round, they will probably ponder whether to take Jordy Nelson in the second or to see if he falls to the third round.

You may be right but I think I'd rather reach for Jordy in the 2nd then go with one of these guys. IMO its a precipitous drop off in talent. It looks like Albert may be a top 10 pick anyway so we unfortunately we wont have to worry about it.

The only thing with that is that Jordy might be picked in the second because of how he was at the combine and the way he performed all year long.
