Re: Upcoming Cuts
I thought about this one for awhile, but Ricky Manning is from the school of Kenny Wright, that is: a mediocre nickel back, but a liability should the players ahead of him get injured. He's better than 07 Torrence, but worse then what I hope 08 Torrence will be.

Torrence is a lock, hes looked improved to me..a decent #4 and arguably #3 potential on other teams. At this point the only question is if they keep Chris Wilson, Mason or McMullen. Not much has changed. I say, Wilson and McMullen are likely gone to make way for Mason. They need to send Mason out in 4 WR sets to see if they can get WR value there

Re: Upcoming Cuts
Rob Jackson has already outplayed Chris Wilson and is probably just below EJames. He probably has a 50/50 shot unless the Skins pick up DL LB or Safety Depth from other cuts...hed be the first to go because of his practice squad eligibility

Re: Upcoming Cuts
i think manning would be a solid pickup myself...indeed to make for springs at saftey which would ultimately improve our apparent weakest spot on defense.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
I am all for anything to get Doughty out of SS. If that means signing Ricky Manning Jr and moving spings to saftey im all for it

Still, if it came to an injury in the secondary, I would much rather see Doughty out there again (assuming of course that he were to get benched due to poor play in order to make Springs switch positions) then have Ricky Manning start at CB for us. Of course, I'm not arguing against added flexibility here, if that is the ultimate goal.

Im not suggesting manning be named a starter or he be ahead of torrence on the depth chart...i think the flexiblity he could provide would be useful considering the possiblity of springs playing some safety seems very likely.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
I was listening to Vinny Cerato and he said that the Redskins will probably only keep five LB's. He also made it sound like they would not keep four running backs. That means to me, that if they keep Mason they cut Cartright. I doubt it, but Mason is a better back.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
Wow - that surprises me I thought that Mason would make the team for sure with how well he has played in the preseason.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
It's a numbers game, keeping 4 RBs is tough.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
I'd try to trade Ladell for something of value (draft picks) to a team that needs a running back and keep Mason.

Re: Upcoming Cuts
Does anyone remember Robert Green, the former William and Mary longshot running back who made the team back in the early 90's? Mason kinda reminds me of him.
