D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)
According to sources inside Redskin Park, the honeymoon is over:

re: D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)
Oh lord. Here we go. Our issues lie with personnel much more than coaching, IMO. The WCO takes time, Snyder knew this when he hired Zorn. Plus Zorn has made real strides with Campbell. Are we really gonna blow it up and start all over AGAIN? Another new offense?
Did Danny really expect a 10 or 11 win season right away when he hired Zorn? Maybe Snyder should read the "did the 6-2 start raise our expectations too high" thread. Sadly, I would not be surprised if he fires Zorn.

UGH. I hate stories like this because it can start huge internet rumors that are often entirely unfounded.
And then even worse, if the story actually does turn out to have any merit at all, it means we could be starting over yet again. I just don't want to think about it, either way. I'm going to close my eyes and wish real hard that I never read this.

If we lose out I think Zorn deserves to be fired.

Brilliant!
This Front Office never ceases to amaze me. One step forward, two steps back. Do they have mirrors in the owner and GM's bathrooms? They never accept any of the blame. It is always someone else's fault. The only constant besides the losing is Snyderatto. It is time for Vinny to be judged. This is not a coaching problem, it is a personnel problem. We have the oldest team in the NFL. I wonder why our offensive and defensive lines get run over? |

We should put a "?" after jeopardy in the thread title. It's a bit misleading. The article suggests that Snyder is frustrated with the team (i.e. the "honeymoon is over" comment), but offers nothing to back up the notion that Zorn's job is in jeopardy.
It's totally speculative, not definitive as the thread title suggests. I just don't want to see a bunch of freak out type posts. The title of the article, after all, is "Zorn's job in jeopardy?"

re: D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)
Let's hope it is.
But think about it for a minute -- is it absolutely out of the question that Snyder was only going to give Zorn one full season to judge how he handled a veteran, playoff team to see if he could lead them to the next level? And if he failed, or didn't maintain a .500 or better record that he would turn to someone else? |

re: D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)
Actually I'd agree. Losing to the Bengals and Niners would seal it for me.
If I'm the owner, and while I was interviewing you, if you said to me that you'd take a 9-7 team from the previous season and go 7-9 this year, I would not have hired you. But Zorn's not that guy, I don't think. I think we'll beat those two teams and go 9-7. He'll deserve another shot next year. But again, playing owner, I'd fully expect his passing game to make major improvement in 2009.

Take what Rick Snider says with a grain of salt. He has pretty openly stated in the past that he looks for ways to make Snyder look bad (he's much worse than JLC in this regard).
Another insider says Snyder and some players are upset that Zorn hasn't taken as much blame (even if it's not necessarily his fault) the way Gibbs used to do. But he's likely to get at least one more year with the team. But there could be massive changes with the rest of the staff.

re: D.C. Examiner: Zorn's job in jeopardy? (not so fast he's coming back)
I think Zorn has a future as a coach. Like another poster said, our problems lie with personnel. Zorn inherited this team, and as a first year coach, he's had great success with it. I give Zorn all the credit for JC's improvement.
That said, I wouldn't be opposed to hiring Cowher, because I think he'd have more influence over Snyder and Cerrato. However, if Zorn left and Cowher came in, I think JC's progression would be stifled. So, I wouldn't necessarily want to trade Zorn for Cowher. Ideally, I'd like to see Cowher as HC and Zorn stay as OC along with his offense.
