Re: Springs Released
1) Brown
2) Dockery 3) Willis 4) Stinchcomb in that order. I can't imagine we have the money to chase two of those guys. I have to imagine that our overall cap number is somewhere in the realm of 6 million right now...the amount freed up by releasing Springs. So considering, the effects of the rookie pool will be about half that, I sense one signing on the OL coming.

Re: Springs Released
how so? everyone is in agreement that Springs was our best cover corner. he just could not play enough. sometimes that happens with age

Everyone was in agreement? I don't think so, I think there are a lot of people here that thought he was an overrated, heartless, selfish wimp

Re: Springs Released
youre probably referring to me with that comment... i didnt go quite that far, but i certainly think he was a different player after the 2007 season. we'll see how he plays for the cowboys. with any luck, Springs will get a papercut the first washington-dallas game and go on IR.

Referring to a lot of people who thought of him as at least one of those things

Rogers and Springs are a better tandem than Rogers and Hall. But without Hall, there's the risk that we could be talking about Rogers and Smoot, and that's kind of a disaster.

Re: Springs Released
I think we learned what Seattle was trying to tell us when we first signed him. He's a great CB when healthy. but we needed full time employees not part time every year on full time pay.

Re: Springs Released
Not coming to OTA's and staying away from Redskin Park last spring may have help him out the door. If he goes to Dallas he will fit in with that kind of team commitment!

Re: Springs Released
Went out with class. He was definitely our best CB when healthy even with Hall on the roster. Best of luck to him.

Re: Springs Released
Sadly he became the Redskins' version of Ken Griffey Jr., lots of talent but always hurt.

Re: Springs Released
If he was smart he would have restructured atleast once and helped the team. I often wondered if he felt he would be better off in Dallas so he would be close to home and close to his dad. I also wondered if his stubborness to not restructure was his way of hoping the Skins would outright release him so he could talk with Dallas.
Maybe it's just all in my head. lol. |

Re: Springs Released
I really like Shawn Springs. I think he's a great player and he seems like he's a better person. However, it was time for him to go. He, Marcus Washington and Griffin can't stay on the field. You can't really be a starter if you can't be counted on to stay healthy.
