Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is a move that I can get excited for. We don't break the bank and pick up someone who can start and solidify the line for us.
He's not a worldbeater but we can work with him. "Welcome back Docker"

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Let's compare the 2 contracts:
March 2007 (Bills): "The total contract equals the deal that "transition" free agent Steve Hutchinson signed with the Minnesota Vikings last year, a league record for a guard. The contract includes $18.5 million in guarantees and will pay Dockery $23 million in the first three seasons." February 2009 (Skins): "Washington’s wheeling and dealing did not end early Friday; it went into the night. The Redskins reached agreement with former Bills guard Derrick Dockery on a five-year, $26 million deal that includes $8.2 in guaranteed money. Combined with the $18.5 million in guaranteed money Dockery made from his two years with the Bills, he will have made nearly $27 million guaranteed in three years." Seems like a good deal for the Skins on a relative basis. But Dock's the big winner. Looks like him and his agent have found the way to milk the system: Big money upfront, play two mediocre seasons so you are not worth your contract, get released, sign with another team for more big money upfront.... |

Oh No... I'm starting to get optimistic about season , the possibilities of Ray Willis (RT) and Andre Smith which will seriously improve our o-line.

This is great! I think the FO has done a wonderful job this offseason. 4 picks in the draft does'nt look so bad right now. Welcome home Doc!

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Great signing. Now if we can get a top tackle in the draft to (hopefully) beat out Jansen and maybe a center in the 3rd, our offense should be much improved.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is huge. I remember his last season with us... and he did open up monster holes for the backs. Loving this offseason so far. Upgrading both lines and getting younger. Gives us some flexibility with the draft pick, too. If Orakpo is gone, I'd like to get a LB'er.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Yeah I keep forgetting that we will more than likely lose Kendall to free agency so we need at least 2 OL to start building some ground in our protection.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
The little guaranteed money and the chemistry he quickly made with Chris Samuels makes this a great deal for the Redskins. Now for the other side of the Line.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I am so proud of the Redskins so far. Addressing two of our biggest needs on the DL and OL is damn good. Danny Boy and Vinny Boy are starting to suprise me so far. They are doing a good job at getting team needs.
Like someone else said, our chances of winning the Super Bowl are looking better and better each minute. If we add Ray Willis via FA or Andre Smith in the draft, this off season will be a good one. Maybe a Darren Sproles type running back later in the draft but thats a different story . |

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
You know how Smoot's reception was when he came back to the Skins. It will be the same for Dock because none of the Skins fans wanted to let him go.
