Very sad. I mean did she have sort of condition before she fell, because from everything I've heard it was a pretty innocent fall

Yeah I saw a clip about this on the news this morning. Weird that she fell, got up and felt fine, and then an hour later she was being rushed to the hospital. That's pretty scary.

A little frightening. The wife of Liam Neeson and the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave. I did not know that.

Yeah they even said the snow was pretty soft that she fell on, my guess is she had some sort of pre-existing condition and the jarring from the fall set something off.

Based on some of the reports it sounds like an epidural hemorrhage.
In this type of injury; a blow to the head (often the side of the head) causes some or no loss of consciousness followed by a period of lucidity. Then the patient can reports an intense headache as the blood from the hemorrhage builds up the pressure within the head. It can then progress to loss of consiousness and worsening symptoms and even death--especially if blood perfusion to the brain itself is compromised. Though I never wore a helmet skiing, biking, or skating as a kid...I have all my kids in helmets for any of these kinds of activities... |

This stuff freaks me out because I've had fair amount of head injuries in the past (I fractured my skull when I was 3, and I've had at least 4 other concussions) and now I get migraines and that sort of thing. When I was a kid it was almost always "take it easy for a day and you'll be fine," now I really think I'm paying the price for those blows to the head. That being said, I'm obviously lucky things aren't much much worse for me.

What made the loss even harder to accept was that Richardson didn't appear to be badly hurt when she wiped out while skiing on a bunny slope at a Canadian resort Monday afternoon.
Laughing at her clumsiness, Richardson refused at first to go to a doctor, witnesses said. wowwww never knew this till I decided to read this |
