Yeah!!! An inside LB!!

We are carefully avoiding ANY offensive picks this year.

Wait... other than Orakpo, all our picks have been offensive.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! Actually the LB picks were at least good for depth. Barnes could be starter caliber.

Just be glad it's not a kicker.

Our last two picks will be a punter and a WR

Other than not addressing the O line, the draft is all you could expect it would be. Outside of the first 2 rounds the talent really isn't there this year. The Jets really screwed up with Sanchez and we really did good by avoiding him. i still think we will look to trade up to take McCoy or Bradford in 2010.

Feels like we're just sniffing around the ultra athletic LB type instead of being proactive.

yeah. I know. I am just disappointed that, with a top 10 defense and one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league, we didnt take a few more shots on that side of the ball.

Think about it, other than Dockery, every significant offseason aquisition has been on the defensive side of the ball. Haynesworth, Hall, Orakpo, Barnes. Sure it had its issues late in the game, but was our defense THAT bad?!?!

We lost a lot of parts and needed to use resources there.

I'm not all that disappointed that we didn't touch the OL as we aren't exactly oozing with roster space at that position, but I'm pretty shocked that we're not spending late round picks on a runner we like. I mean, it's a perfect use of a 5th or 6th rounder, and we're just poking around for linebackers who can't all make the team because, again, limited roster space.

I understand what you are saying. But I offer this: in the draft we simply weren't going to be able to fill all 3 holes at OT, DE, and LB. Filling two of those holes through the draft would be a good draft. If Orakpo is the real deal, we filled one hole. If one of those LB's turns out to be the next Horton, we filled two holes. And let's face it, by drafting 2 LB's we are increasing the chance that at least one of the LB's works out.

Over the course of the next few months, vet OT's should appear on the market. We could nab one of them and perhaps be in good shape. Or maybe Heyer, Rinehart, or Williams is quietly having a monster offseason and next year will be much, much better than before. All is not lost for the offense.

Except for the part where Cody Glenn plays LB now (for the last year) because he had too many leg injuries at RB (which he played for the three years prior, unproductively at that). "Ultra Athletic" That may have been where the FO heart was, but i think Vinny pulled a classic Vinny and just closed his eyes and pointed at a list of players.

I agree wit Gus I think the 3 no-brainers are setting up Williams to fail and looking forward to 2010 as the lions will end up with the first pick again and will not be intersted in a QB and willing to trade and that's when Snyder creams in his pants and puts on his knee pads.
