Two Guys, One Cut

So in some cases below, both players may make the team and in some cases neither may.

But let's suppose you had to make the call. If you had to make a decision today, which of the two guys would you cut?

Remember...this isn't how you think would be cut. This is who you would cut (and that, of course, would include putting someone on the practice squad)

Chase Daniel or Colt Brennan
I'd put Chase on the practice squad. He'll be starting for us in 2011 though

Shaun Suisham or Dave Rayner
Better the devil you know, cut Rayner

Marcus Mason or Domonique Dorsey (I'll add Rock Cartwright here)
I can't find a spot for Mason, so I'll cut him. I really like what I saw of Dorsey the other day both as a back and especially on special teams

Devin Clark or Mike Williams
I'd cut Clark and maybe put Williams on the PUP list until mid-season

Cody Glenn or Robert Thomas
I'd cut Thomas, I think Glenn can add special teams value. I had high hopes for Thomas this summer, but haven't seen much

Renaldo Wynn or Alex Buzbee (I'll add Rob Jackson here)
I'd cut Wynn, give his playing time to Jarmon

Justin Tryon or Bryon Westbrook
I'd cut Westbrook because I haven't been able to figure what he offers beyond telling us his brother won't play against us

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

I had somehow managed to bury it away in my subconscious.

Now it awakes. The horror.

Keep-

Chase -seems like he is the first young QB to really get Jim Zorn.
Suish. - Least worse option
Dorsey and Rock
Williams
Glenn
None of the three(maybe Jackson)
Tryon - Least worst option

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

Chase Daniel or Colt Brennan
Eh. Colt cause he's old. Neither is necessarily deserving, but Chase Daniel has that 3-5% chance of becoming our franchise QB. If Colt gets his time next year, he'll already be 26 or 27. Can't develop that.

Shaun Suisham or Dave Rayner
Dave Rayner because Suisham isn't ungodly awful on kickoffs and has decent accuracy numbers over his career.

Marcus Mason or Domonique Dorsey (I'll add Rock Cartwright here)

Mason becuase Dorsey's value added on Punt Returns makes him valuable to us. Mason gives us an explosive runner out of the backfield, but there's no playing time on this team for someone like that.

Devin Clark or Mike Williams
Both. I'd keep Edwin Williams instead as a backup C/G, and I'd make Rinehart the emergency LT.

Cody Glenn or Robert Thomas
I'd have to cut Glenn given this choice because Thomas seems like the only quailty backup WLB we have on the roster, but truth is, I'd maybe oust Fincher so that we could see a year of Glenn hitting people on special teams.

Renaldo Wynn or Alex Buzbee (I'll add Rob Jackson here)
Buzbee, I guess. I like the idea of having Wynn back up an injury prone player Daniels, so that they don't have to force Jarmon onto the field. Wynn is an easy mid-season cut if Jarmon earns his way onto the field, and I think Buzbee is still PS eligible. I like Jackson's development to this point too much to let him go before his second season.

Justin Tryon or Bryon Westbrook
Westbrook. Tryon hasn't shown much, but better to flash skill in practice than to not have it at all.

I agree with all of your choices except Clark/Williams. I'd tell Big Mike, "Nice try, but sorry" and try to develop Clark more.

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

In the Daniel vs Brennan saga hopefully the loser is released after this game. It will be early enough for the other to find a spot with many teams looking for backup QB's or in a case like SF maybe even a starter. Hill and Smith have both been horrid.

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

My keepers:

Chase Daniel or Colt Brennan: I'd like to say keep both and ditch Collins. Maybe keep Chase and put Colt on practice squad. Other teams I'm sure see him as wreckless and takes chances. They might over look him on the PS.

Shaun Suisham or Dave Rayner: Suisham, we know what we have in him. With a decent holder he's not bad.

Marcus Mason or Domonique Dorsey (I'll add Rock Cartwright here): Portis, Betts, and Rock are all supposedly similar runners. I'd keep Mason and Dorsey and cut Betts who's getting older and more injury prone and Rock who is only a KR technically. Mason could be groomed for the future after Portis and Dorsey could do KR/PR and be the speed back.

Devin Clark or Mike Williams: This is my risky pick. I'd take MW. Clark has had his time and not shown much to me. MW has heart at this point.

Cody Glenn or Robert Thomas: I think I would take Glenn here also. Lets see what he's got.

Renaldo Wynn or Alex Buzbee (I'll add Rob Jackson here): Flip a coin. Buzbee's younger. I'll take Buzbee.

Justin Tryon or Bryon Westbrook: I bad mouthed Westbrook since he's been here. 3 yrs on the PS. Tryon was not bad last yr and showed he could be something, but last two games Tryon looks pitiful and Westbrook actually looked half good last game. I'd still pick Tryon or bump up Barnes.

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

Chase Daniel or Colt Brennan
I need more Chase like I need more cowbell. Need to see the rest of the preseason to strengthen this feelin. Colt to practice team.

Shaun Suisham or Dave Rayner
Keepin Suisham, he will be gone after this season thank god.

Marcus Mason or Domonique Dorsey (I'll add Rock Cartwright here)
Dorsey played great, I hope he makes the team. Bye Marcus
Devin Clark or Mike Williams
This is a toss up, id probably cut Clark. Some much freakin attention been given to Mike, lets keep this guy, but I feel he will disappoint in the end.

Cody Glenn or Robert Thomas
Id stay with the vet here. Worry bout OLB depth. Cody can become a practice squid.
Renaldo Wynn or Alex Buzbee (I'll add Rob Jackson here)
Cut Wynn and Buzbee and keep Rob Jackson at this point.

Justin Tryon or Bryon Westbrook
Stayin with Tryon

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

Chase Daniel or Colt Brennan
I'd like to put Daniel on the practice squad and let them go at it next year again. If I have to cut one, I'm still cutting Daniel.

Shaun Suisham or Dave Rayner
I really wish it would be Suisham, but Rayner will get cut.

Marcus Mason or Domonique Dorsey (I'll add Rock Cartwright here)
Mason. Cartwright will not get cut because of kick returns, and nor should he.

Devin Clark or Mike Williams
Clark.

Cody Glenn or Robert Thomas
I'd cut Thomas. But I'll be honest, I couldnt pick either of these guys out of a lineup right now.

Renaldo Wynn or Alex Buzbee (I'll add Rob Jackson here)
I really like the guy, but Wynn is the guy to go.

Justin Tryon or Bryon Westbrook
I'd cut them both. Other than Byron playing Brian in practice when we play the Eagles, neither of these guys do anything for me...

LOL. The first thing I thought of when I read the thread title. For those of you familiar with 2 Girls 1 Cup, the song below is absolutely hilarious.

Isnt JC 27, soon to be 28 this December? So if he doesnt do it this yr another team shouldnt waste their time in hopes of "developing" his talents. COMEON MAN!!! . CB and JC are close in age,JC is a yr + a few months older so -IF- we did keep CB till next yr he would be on the same experience level in this offense and a yr younger. really no difference -experience and age wise- in what we are looking at now with JC.

Well, Campbell has been developed since 2005. September 13th is the end of that development stage and the beginning of his "prime". Colt's development stage would last until 2012, or roughly until he's 30.

That's assuming though, that Colt is normal like the rest of us. If he's super human, just play him now.

Re: Two Guys, One Cut

I can't believe all the cut Colt stuff on here. Chase goes out and plays one decent quarter and now Colt is the one that has to go?? I remember all the "let Colt play" crap from last year. I personally wouldn't keep either if I had the choice. Neither is going to be a franchise QB. Yeah, their nice to watch fling the ball against guys that will be bagging your groceries next week, but no way they are legit starters. But, if I had to play along in this scenario, Daniels cut or practice squad and keep Colt as #3.
