How many times has Cutler, in his career, albeit short, thrown for 350+ yards, and compare that to Campbells. How many three td games has campbell ever had? compare that to cutlers, shoot, Cutler even has a better winning pct. with much worse defenses.......Why?

Because he makes plays. Teams need to account for him. Hes a weapon. He influences games, not just manages them in a piss poor manner, hoping not to make a mistake to influence it in a negative way. Teams DO NOT look at the upcoming game with the skins and say, "We've better account for this guy every play, or hes gonna eat us alive." Know why? Because hes never done that at all in his entire career against even the POOREST of teams.(Just look at our first three games this year.)Oh, and look what Cutlers doing in Chicago, with absolutely NO receiver corps of any kind. Campbell has better weapons, hes just not a winner.

Now, let the excuses flow. (like I said, where is the allegiance to this mediocre soul coming from anywho?)

But I also, as a fan, cant help but look at the Mannings, Bradys, Ryans, Flaccos, Rothlisbergers, Rivers, Brees', shoot, even the Warners of this league and wish my team could have what they have. A Strong QB, not just one who slides by, week by week. Not hatin', just wishin' I guess.

Since you are wishing why not wish for JC to become the next P.Manning or Brady. Instead you rather have the other teams QB's. That won't happen cause good teams dont give a way franchise QB's. :cool-smil

D. Hall gets the game ball hands down, he woke use up. He inspired the whole team with that pick.It seemed to come right on time, JC came back out and went nut. All of the great QBs have had games like this, learning how to win those ugly games when everything is going wrong, that makes you pretty special.

Hey, I was on the campbell side at one time...I thought he needed more time, and he showed glimpses of being good...but he's either amazingly slow developing, or we are just HOPING he turns into what we want.

Hey, you know me well enough to know I'm not part of the crowd that sees the two TD passes in the third quarter and says, "wow, Jason Campbell really showed me something today." I don't see any positives in a bad performance. Others do. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm a stats guy first and I'm being consistent.

What Jason Campbell can be in this league is still very much up in the air. What he is: a known quantity at this point. If that makes him Barack Obama in your mind, well, um, okay. It's a horrible comparison for any number of reasons. As a known quantity though, he's rarely the reason we win or lose close games. Which makes small-sample analysis of his play largely if not completely unnecessary.

What he is right now, and what he will be for the next three weeks at least, is a guy who is leading a passing offense that may be incapable of leading us into the end zone with consistency, but might be our only offensive weapon. That's got a lot of value, but at the end of the day, it's not the difference between winning and losing.

If the OL gels, Campbell might be able to go out and snatch some wins from the jaws of defeat. Until then, he is what he is. And the analysis is best spent other places. Like: how does the punter hurt his groin? C'mon, you know you want to talk about groins and punters!

Jason Campbell is WHO we....got. It is not a pretty picture to think about re-tooling...again, starting at the QB. As was discussed in another thread, it may be wisest to try to surround an avg qb with an outstanding O-line and see what your qb, skill positions and Offense looks like then. It's easier to do and will probably raise the level of play in the other components? It MUST be done anyway...as the line ain't cuttin' it.

Fair enough.
You need to keep in mind I am stats guy too, and most of the time, you're right, they point to certain trends, and a lot can be learned from them. But you have to remember football is a different breed. They don't always lead to the answer. The fact that Campbell had double the turnovers than tds and showed more of his make up than the inflated numbers he got vs the Lions. (not to mention the fact that the skins won anyway) That's the nature of the beast. Being a stats guy, I'm sure you can come up with A LOT of numbers to show he's not the guy we want him to be, and he never will be...but we will leave that for another debate.

While I agree about most everything you said (including the Obama analogy which was more of a jab even though there are vague similarities) the comment of "it's not the difference between winning and losing", well I think you are dead wrong there. The QB IS the difference in almost all cases. Campbell is no exception. If his play was more consistant, and he didn't over throw wide open receivers, and could actually be accurate beyond 15 yards, and lead us to redzone scores, we'd be talking about how good of a team we had and talking super bowl bound. If Campbell stays on the field, the defense stays off and gets rested which makes our D even better. Putting up 7 instead of 3 or 0 is HUGE when you consider how many close games we have. So yes, Campbell is the difference. Better Campbell = more wins.

Better than most lines for that matter. Aaron Rodger has been sacked 20 times. Campbell 8 times. And a lot of the guys who have been sacked fewer times either had their bye week already or haven't been the starter all season. Even Seneca Wallace has been sacked 8 times.

The O-line excuse is tired. Rogers got sacked as many times in the last game as Campbell has been sacked all season. And he still managed to throw for 384 yards and had a passer rating of 110. And for the season? 6 TDs, 1 INT with a passer rating of 101.
